I was just looking back on some posts earlier in the year in this thread, and it reminded me... Does Lisa Knights still appear on the News at 10.30 with the sport? In fact, does any presenter do the sport on the News at 10.30? And do they join Mark at the desk, like Lisa used to, at first?

They don't have a sports anchor anymore. The main newsreader does the sport now as well. Shame, really.
Little chance of the News Channel returning, but although in the ratings at least it was always third choice... Until they realise that the unprofitable things like ITV News and CITV are as important to the channel as Coronation Street and I'm a Celebrity they really are going to struggle to rebuild the brand.
An excellent comment about channel branding, diverse programming and public service broadcasting. But hang on: over in the BBC Parliament thread, you seem to be arguing the very opposite with respect to BBC branded parliamentary coverage!

As I've said before there is a place for live parliamentary broadcasts but the amount of time the channel spends broadcasting recorded coverage, especially of previous elections which are only of interest to a minority of the minority, doesn't justify a whole channel, especially on Freeview where space is limited and can be used more effectively at times for other things.

I know people will hit back with the "public service" argument - but how can it be deemed a public service when the public are just not interested!
A significant number of the public are interested in news and children's programming though - and these channels main highlights aren't replaying events from 30 years ago!
Just to Note.... Owen Thomas did the short 5 min bulletin at 5:55am on Saturday Am.
So He still does ITV News occasionally
In fact at the end of the 5 min programme he said "from all the morning news team goodbye"
Hardly a Morning News!
Altho.... they did do a newspaper review in that time. Sian Jones did a newspaper review in this morning's news. It's a shame ITV News don't really do many summary bulletins anymore. You can hardly call the 11:10am Mon-Fri a summary. Its only a minure long!
lmao - phillip reay smith's report - the woman in the shop says 58p please to a customer, then cuts to a shot of someone counting out about 5 £50 notes!

Er, but you were defending ITV News (presumably the News Channel) despite it's unprofitability. It was a commercial operation. It was unprofitable because few people watched it. Like BBC Parliament. But if you only ever commission programmes which you believe (rightly or wrongly) will draw a huge audience and therefore profits, you may run into a few problems. Just look at ITV. Which is where you started!

The way they've scheduled the ITV Morning News and the ITV News Summary is strange this year
5 minute summaries from Tuesday 19th to Saturday 23rd, back to full half hour bulletins for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Back to 5 minute summaries from Boxing Day to Saturday 30th, then full 30 mins again from New Year's Eve and then back to normal
Well they may as well have done it in the newsroom, whats point in firing up the lighting in the studio for 5 minutes!!
I am surprised they are doing a news summary at all, with there being no news channel, why over Christmas do we need that bulletin at all.

a nice touch to the end of the 2 bullitens today with falling snowflakes virtually added on the studio wideshot and continuing on the itn endcap
we got green snowflakes on the 11pm news as the itn endcap was green.
Nice to see they have bothered to do something unlike itv
