the cont. announcer said James Mates and Mary Nightingale was presenting tonight's news - I didn't see Mary.

On the Evening News, Mary also said that she would be back with James at 10.30.

Yup she wasn't - maybe they were trying to focus on another story. Eg not the Fog storyline - or was that main story?

Here's something for "Al Fans",

"London Tonight presenter Alistair Stewart is to front a 16 part moral debate series for ITV. Made by ITV News, The Moral of the Story will see a panel of guests debate the week's events from a moral point of view."

Starts 10:45pm Sunday 14th January ITV1.

Sounds like more religious and snobbish tripe from ITV.

Schedules for the news are obviously different at Christmas, but here's a contender for a bulletin that is the furthest away from it's standard time

Next Friday the ITV Lunchtime News is on at 2.30pm!

They have only done that to fit it around films. At least it will be a shorter day for the presenter than if they had it at 11.30am or something. I assume they will use the same presenter for the lunchtime, evening and late bulletins like at Weekends.

But it's not is it ? It's not the Lunchtime News, that won't be back until 2nd January.

Well officially they all are called ITV News thesedays anyway, if it's Nicholas Owen presenting he'd probably refer to it as the Lunchtime News

I bet Phil Gayle or whoever at 5.55am would as well "Next from us is the Lunchtime News at 2.30"!

The normal 1.30pm news goes into TV listings as "ITV Lunchtime News", the editions next week do not.

Bulletins during the festive period are all shorter than usual anyway, i.e. 15 mins instead of 30, like at weekends. Apart from the 10.30pm which seems to be in its usual half hour slot Wednesday - Friday.
