Was today's Lunchtime News from the main studio or second studio. While they did have some wide standing up shots and the standard 3 square desk shot, there were quite a few close up shots with just one presenter and the cube background. The 12noon summary looked slightly different too.

Looks like the main studio to me (the lighting grid is always a giveaway, and the newswall reflection on the desktop) - but they seemed to be avoiding shots of the ends of the newswall.

I've always been slightly puzzled when people start talking about the various ITV News studious at ITN. Could somebody list the studios thy have, and the difference between them, and how you can tell which is being used?

There are two main studios in the basement, studio 1 and studio 2.

Studio 2 contains the main 'theatre of news' set
Studio 1 is the VR studio, used for The Briefing and previous by the NC when studio 2 was unavailable

from memory, there's no studio 3.
Studio 4, next to the newsroom, is used by ITV London

Could Channel 4 News be Studio 3? Or does it have another name?

Also quite obvious on the Evening News they were restricting the wide shots of the newsroom - they never went any wider than the catwalk, when in fact the screen does go on quite a bit past it.

Work being done I suppose. I'm looking forward to seeing my regional set with the new look - it's painted with the squares theme!

They seemed to be using the wide shots fine on the LN today.

Any chance of Widescreen on Monday? I mean its it can be done, as the 10.15 preview for 10.30 news is proper 16:9 and the preview for the LN. They could always show the reports in 14:9 like now, but have proper widescreen presentation...

I would imagine that if ITV News was to go ful 16:9 anytime soon, next Monday would be the most logical date. However i suppose it is ITV we are talking about.

We said that two years ago with the big relaunch - and probably as early as three years ago with the return of News at Ten.

ITN really behind now with regard to widescreen - the "widescreen" version on digital TV is pathetic really - just the 4:3 cropped to 14:9.

I don't see why they couldn't do something similar to what most sports programmes do - go out in widescreen on digital, but 4:3 on analogue, with all 4:3 pictures shown 4:3 centre frame!
