Well, Wales Tonight and London Tonight could swap studios and nobody* would notice!

* Well, most viewers wouldn't but I'm sure we'd get a 15 page thread outlining all the differences on here!

Notice there was another exclusive on yesterday's Evening News regarding the Farepak story

Who was the reporter they got to try and interview the Farepak boss, he wasn't exactly Roger Cook was he!

True but Jon would have had to have come to London as well Wink

Comparing mondays to fridays backgrounds it looks like they have lost some of the blue in the background & they've made it look less sharp.

Cool Nice to see James Mates presenting the weekend news bulliten today too. Also on the late news last night as normal.

I'm probably waffling here rather than getting straight to the point, but I do like the way ITV News are using James Mates.

Using him as the regular stand-in on the 10.30pm works so much better than having a random fill in (or Nina Hossain) and in many ways the bulletins he presents, especially on a Friday, are his bulletins - not just him standing in for Mark.

I think his role as senior correspondent also gives him much more credibility too when he does step into the newsroom.

James looks quite comftorbal doing the late friday news. Better than having Nina or someone. And I totally agree - fridays news is James - not filling for Mark.
Tottally agree with the post above Cool.

I feel I can trust James more than Mark. Mark's presentation is far too ''read all about it'' tabloid cockney git. James adds much more credibility and expertise to the show on a Friday and he's finally starting to overcome the slipups he makes.

Mark Austin is not a 'cockney' nor is he in anyway reminiscent of one. What an odd thing to say.

People here take things so literally, get real. I mean, his delivery is too alarmist/extreme at times and adds his own spin on things far too often. His accent, as I had said, okay, it isn't a conventional ''newsreader'' one, or ''received pronunciation'' for the literate amongst you, and I must admit to being shallow that that grates on my nerves. His accent makes him incredulous at times and I just can't take him seriously.
