Hmm, yes, this is to do with that 'Betrayed' series isn't it?

Looks like the US military is now wanting to do the same with CNN!

Just what they need to do as public support reaches an all time low - lose the support of the media too!

I am surprised that more hasn't been said on here about this.
From what I remember the report in question didn't strike me as being particularly controversial.

Yesterday morning I read about the ban [timesonline.co.uk] and in the evening I saw an item on Sky News where it appeared that the army liaison staff couldn't do enough for the reporter.
To be fair this may be the norm and the timing was such that it's unlikely to have been in response to the breaking of the news of the ban, but I can't help feeling that it's part of a concerted effort to divide the various news agencies and demonstrate to them that by towing the party line they'll be given access to the best pictures, latest reports etc.

Personally I think this is a very tricky situation for ITN; if they aim for the moral high ground that would put an awful lot of distance between them and the Government. (That may sound like a virtuous ideal but, unfortunately, not very practical and possibly terminal).

I think people are generally turning against itv news, its beggining to be featured in jokes and described as televised daily star by some ent. programmes.

Also, on the late news: return of the squares?

It's by the MoD actually.

Completly on the side of ITN is this battle with the MoD. It appears also the ITN investigation came on the back of comments made by that new General bloke in that Daily Mail interview a few weeks back.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, whatever your views of ITV News, many will fear the slippery slope we're on when the government of the day actually stops a national news broadcaster from reporting anything at all, least of all a highly controversial war! This country is supposed to be a democracy and 'enjoy' a free press!

Is Geraint Vincent the new blue-eyed boy at ITV News then? I notice he's been presenting quite a few bulletins recently.

Well when Mark is off they doesnt have many other male presenters to replace him now Steve is on HTV News (West) apart from Fridays and Alistair is on London Tonight. And James Mates only seems to cover for Mark on the 10.30 bulletin.

I notice in the Radio Times, next week, Geraint is presenting some 630's with Mary, whilst Mark is still on that evening's 1030.....
