These weekend bulletins are terrible, one camera shot all the way though, and daylight at 11.10PM!

Yeh I've always wondered why the weekend bulletins are always so stale. Is it because it's cheaper to have less camera angles, as less staff need to work, if they just set up the cameras in one direction?

One strange thing though, the Jib Camera, sometimes on Sunday its in a completley different position to Saturday, so it is moved during the weekend.

Regional newsrooms are capable of having different shots at the weekend, and where I am, they even zoom, so I can't see why ITV news can't.

Well ITV Wales dont - they just have the same shot for all of their weekend bulletins, and dont use the backdrop of Cardiff Bay either just a shot of the studio with a screen with 'Wales News' on it. Its the same setup for the weekday GMTV bulletins.

A bit of a waste really that not all bulletins make full use of the studio and dont use the backdrop.

I have noticed though, that seems to be a different studio, as the lighting is different to the main studio. They may have a seperate smaller studio for short bulletins, with just the plasma. Also with the desk turned round which may make it more true. Probably they have a different gallery.

I think you are right as before ITV Wales got the standard ITV regional news studio they had a smaller studio for the GMTV and weekends bulletins.

Bit of a waste though really having a seperate studio which is tiny when they could be making good use of the backdrop for ALL bulletins.

I see that John Irvine is now referred to as North American Correspondent on ITV News instead of Washington Correspondent.

Does anyone know the reason for the change?

It's not a change. If he's reporting from Washington then he's the Washington correspondent, if he's elsewhere in the continent he's the North America correspondent.

Same for Robert Moore in the past.

To be honest I never noticed Robert Moore referred to as North America Correspondent before, that's why I thought it strange.

I think ITV Central had this problem, I know CITV took their gallery most of the time, but the virtual studio was used on the late/GMTV and afternoon bulletins. It must be easier to run on a shorter bulletin. But now since the upgrade, we get the full studio all day.

The background is light again. I wonder if they cant change it somehow, or there just lazy and think no one will notice. Or maybe its even recorded, but I'm sure they'd realise people would notice its not light at 11.05 at night.

"Recorded" - the background?? Surely not?? Shocked Sounds like someone just forgot to switch to the dark setup to me.

Lucy Owen is doing bulletins this weekend on ITV1. Didnt expect to see her as she was on Wales Tonight all week - usually she isnt there on the Friday when she does national bulletins at the weekend.

PS she is wearing a white jacket today for those who say she is always in black!

it looks like ITV News have opened their China bureau. John Ray starts his new job as China correspondent, and Mark Austin will be in Beijing all next week.

Last night, going into the break, the atrium in the background suddenly jolted up and down (camera knocked i guess), which looked wierd.
