It was a video of someone in the 2nd studio messing around, apparently an electrician from ITN

Today's Evening Standard media diary suggests that ITV are once again floating the idea of pushing the late news back to 11pm.

Do you have a copy of the article?

It's not worth typing in - all it says is that "the word in senior broadcasting circles" is that ITV wants to ask Ofcom for permission to move the news (again), and Ofcom say that they have not yet been approached by ITV on the subject.

If it was true, and happened. Do you guys think It'd last?

In a bombshell, Yeah. ITV are constantly dumbing down the news, they'll probably use it as an excuse to scrap the late regional bulletin because of "poor viewing figures".

I'm sure ITV didn't schedule all bulletins to start on a half hour just for the sake of consitency...

Have they changed the background slightly
- It looks sharper
- Clearer and not as blurred.
Is it just me ?

I think ITV would be stupid to move the late news again. If it didn't work between 1999 and 2001 with the Nightly News, why would it work again now?

By the way, what does everyone think of the ITN endcaps? I think they're hideous. I've tried to like them, but they just don't work. What was wrong with that lovely blue endcap with the ITN logo in white? The new ones look cheap and nasty (as does the ITN website).

what does (yet another) time change have to do with 'dumbing down' the content? the two things are not necessarily linked.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened - i read an interview with one of the channel's entertainment controllers recently where he talked about how difficult it was to ask production companies to make 90 minute dramas rather than the conventional 60 minute versions.
