I thought the 10.30pm was officially the flagship?

Is it? I assumed the 6.30pm was, and had been ever since they launched it in 1999 (when Sir Trevor presented it after the original News at 10 was axed)

No, they just told Trevor McDonald that!
I think the fact that Mark Austin kept on his Evening News role when being "promoted" to the 10.30pm bulletin also says alot too!

Fantastic reaction by Katie when Nick butted in on her words today at the start of the LN.
Just 3 to go!

I think Katie had already opened her mouth and started to move her hands before Nick butted in, rather than it being a sign of exasperation.
I quite like the earlier suggestion of moving Nicholas Owen to the Evening News (or perhaps the 10:30?) but I doubt Mark Austin would agree.

Well I doubt Mark Austin would have a huge say in the final decision about presenters moving. It's up to the big bosses. If you don't co-operate with your bosses, then you may find yourself out of a job!

I think Nicholas Owen is great on the Lunchtime News, but to me he isn't right on the evening bulletins. He's too nice if you know what I mean!
I think there is more chance of Katie Derham taking over the 10.30pm than Nicholas Owen moving - or even co-hosting the Evening bulletin with Mary!
I suspect though they'll keep both of them initially anyhow - even though the bulletin doesn't require it!

I don't often comment on presenter rotas (as they are very dull) but I'll make an exception here as I've watched the Lunchtime bulletin nearly everyday for 4 and a bit years...
It's a shame the Lunchtime News is being chopped in half (and moved but that's another matter). Alistair, Nick, Katie and Nina are always very good on the programme. Especially during the humorous bits (ie. the young boy running around the studio and Katie lifting him up).
Looks like I'll be switching to the BBC News at 1 (tight lunch breaks).
