Why is Mark Austin not doing the News at 10.30 tonight?

I wondered that too - I thought Mark was supposed to be presenting both the 6.30 and 10.30 bulletins.

It's a Friday - James Mates usually does it.

Has Mary done the full week (from Tuesday, anyway)?

No, not tonight - Steve and Nina anchored the EN. Both Mark & Mary appear to have their "days off" on a Friday.

Whats the point in saying he does the ITV Evening and Nightly news weekdays then really. Might as well leave him on the evening news and get another anchor who can do 5 days a week for the 10.30 bulletin.

But do you see the likes of Anna Ford and Huw Edwards working all 5 days? Lately even Alagiah and Kaplinsky have been having 1 day off as well.

So it may seem its not realistic to expect somebody on 5 nights a week.

don't forget also that he's the only national terrestrial presenter to do two full bulletins a night - having a day off is hardly earth shattering in this, or any regard.

Just like Trevor Very Happy . But seriously, many people prefer Alastair, myself included. This in't a cue to start the anti-Mark war, it's too late, Alastair lost the race again, like in 1992.

I think Mark should drop one of them and focus on the other, TBH.

If you think about it, we can assume that if Mark is not present for the 6.30 Evening News, he will not do the 10.30 Nightly either, so he would not be doing a full 5-day week regardless of whether he had other responsibilities. What would make sense however, would be to continue the pattern, so if a stand-in presenter is called in for the 6.30, it should also be their duty to do the 10.30.

I don't know about that. It would mean less chances for these relief presenters to get on. Plus just because Mark is now doing 2 bulletins a night doesn't mean anyone else wants to
