what's wrong with reverting to the previous 12.30-1pm slot, though?
Also, I'd be interested to see whether they went back to just Nicholas Owen on his own (where he was great) or retained the two-presenter format.

They should have it back to 12.30pm-13.00pm. With one anchor and Local News at 12.50pm.

Because i've noticed the 1hour programme is really slow and some of the stories aren't well how can I say JUNK!!

Go back to normal..Wink

Someone in the main forum (buster), claiming to work for ITV plc, claims that from 4th September the ITV Lunchtime News will be shortened and move to 1.30pm.

No one believes him - so can anyone back it up or disprove it!

Well if they are going to change the lunchtime news back to half an hour they should IMO have the regional news seperate. However I can see the 15 minute regional bulletin cut down to about 7 minutes like it was before

Geraint is fine this evening the same with Nina.

So, does this mean, the programme will be similar to the News at 10.30?
20 minutes of national news, 5 minutes of regional news, then back to main news for headlines recap...

Probably..
I hope they change the programme - if you's know what I mean

Also next week at 1030 is James Mates Mon-Fri.

Its quite a treat for us Radio Times readers to actually see who is presenting on ITV news!

Re: Geraint - noticed he got the main headline tonight! It was about six months before they let Nina do that!

Re: Lunchtime News. I've always said the 30 minute format was better - both the national and regional bulletins are padded out with rubbish. I'd rather have 7 minutes of proper local news than a fluffy 15 minute bulletin!

The idea of moving it to 1.30pm is to keep viewers from This Morning I suppose for an hour. I'd say though there would be a greater risk in people turning over for Neighbours than for "Insert daytime antiques programme here".

Very good point - I try to tune in to the Lunchtime News whenever I can but if it does move to 13.30 then there's no way I will be watching. Neighbours will always win over for me.

Yup and handed over to a reporter for the "Breaking News" and seemed to be leading the programme.

Surely ofcom would have something to say about the regional news being cut. 18 months ago itv wanted to axe the 12 minute bulletin which aired at 3pm every weekday afternoon, it was agreed that extending the lunchtime bulletin to 13 minutes would be a suitable replacement to this bulletin. This will mean within the space of 18 months an anual 52 hours regional output would have been cut. Surely this is itv trying to get rid of the regional news via the backdoor. It can be argued that itv were always planning to restore the regional output back to 10 minutes and that the past 18 months it has been decieving both ofcom and the public by saying that it still has a commitment to the regions.
