There was a piece on Media Guardian last month suggesting that a change was under consideration but I've not seen anything confirmed.

Geraint did seem more confident on Friday evening compared to the weekend bulletins - let's see how he does tonight!

He wasnt shouting as I felt he was on Friday, and him and Nina are good onscreen.

Geraint was actually okay tonight, still felt he was shouting a bit. When I DID watch him though, I always had the nervous feeling for him, that if he made a mistake the whole thing would go terribly wrong and he wouldn't be able to handle any mishaps. Someone said James Mates hardly ever reads the news- very untrue. He is on far too much IMO, and he's a particularly standard anchor, who constantly makes silly mistakes, especially when handing to the regional newsrooms. He always makes a mess of what he's supposed to be doing. IMO Bill Neely should be invited to read the news more, as I think he's suited to the evening and nightly bulletins and comes across as a true professional. I can't understand why Geraint was chosen though... maybe ITV News are returning a favour- Geraint did provide a lot of coverage from Baden-Baden during the World Cup.

Well ive rarely seen James reading the news.

Its obvious why Geraint has been chosen, its the holiday season so many of the usual presenters are off work so other people have to cover.

This appeared during the Evening News when Neil Connery's report failed to run:

Yeah, Nina led into a report, which came on for about 3 seconds, with that image showing. The camera then panned to Nina who was seen fiddling with her papers then looking to the camera.

Andrea Catherwood's back on the Weekend News this weekend. Geraint and Nina are doing the Evening News all next week too, with Andrea and Steve Scott presenting on Friday.

Someone in the main forum (buster), claiming to work for ITV plc, claims that from 4th September the ITV Lunchtime News will be shortened and move to 1.30pm.

No one believes him - so can anyone back it up or disprove it!

Ah, I didn't think to look in the Sharon Osborne thread...

I'd be inclined to believe buster.
