Often they draft in the regionals to report.
Chances are, if we are to see her again it'll only be within the next month or so, as regular staff take their breaks during the summer.

Has stv's Isla Traquair moved to ITV News?
She filed a report yesterday on a NASA story, and today she was live in Newcastle to report on the killed family.

Interesting to note that in the BBC's annual report it states the viewing figures for the ITV Lunchtime News fell from 1.4m to 1.2m from 2004/05 to 2005/06.
Admittedly not a huge drop, but I for one would never watch the ITV Lunchtime News after that toddler in studio incident, for me that showed the new style of the Lunchtime News perfectly, almost an extension of This Morning.

It depends what type of person you are though. Personally, I find the BBC too superficial and pompous, yet I do watch their bulletins.

not surprised viewing figures have fell for the LN. I am sick of ITV News week long features, which are more lifestyle than news, and these diary things...
Never thought I would say this but I am getting a bit bored of the theatre of news now, somehow I dont see it working anymore, the atrium view restrict the studio so much, no overhead shot anymore, and close up shots look terrible.
The weekend presentation is very poor with the top story, a huge mass of video blocking the atrium, and what you can see of the atrium is half blocked by a green background and the messy looking clock face (which is usually out of line with the studio floor)

The problem is with the Lunchtime News is that it is catered for the average ITV Daytime viewer, rather than in the old days when it was just a Normal News bulletin whether at 1.00pm or 12.30pm. I think their point is to inherit the audience of This Morning and to add crappy features onto the LN that would probably interest the This Morning audience.
But any News junkie isn't going to put ITV1 on at 12.30pm for the News, they'd get it elsewhere, more likely to be a News channel. Channel 4 News and the BBC One O'Clock News are more just News than ITV or even the BBC Six O'Clock News. Though whenever I've watched the LN recently (believe me I haven't watched it much) they seem to be using The Pulse alot less or even never, Thank God.

It's an ident for one of ITN's outgoing lines, used for industry line feeds. Most comapnies tend to keep odd numbers for outgoing lines and even numbers for incoming lines, although this is in a transitional period. Don't know why it would be on the opening titles though.
The reason it slides from side to side is simply to show that that it's not just a frame store , and that the line hasn't 'frozen'! In todays world of digital transmission lines, it's not so easy to tell if the line has 'frozen' or just a still frame being shown.

Any idea what this was all about on the 1am news summary?

Back in the days of the ITV News Channel we used to wish that Alistair Stewart got the ITV1 gig
Even though he hasn't got his own programme, have you noticed he's all over the ITV1 news schedule now. Filling in for Nick on the Lunchtime News every week and often appearing, just like tonight on the late news
