Erm, why has the ITV News thread been closed?

We were in the middle of a discussion pulling together a list of all presenters who ever appeared on the News Channel

Just because the News Channel closed 31 minutes ago doesn't mean nobody is ever going to talk about it ever again!

Because it's a power trip for Charlie.

The previous ITV News thread has been on the verge of closure many times in the past and has barely scraped through. With the closure of the ITV News Channel is was an appropiate time to bring the thread to an end. The proposal to close the thread was announced to the other moderators over 24 hours ago and as no objections were made by either itsrobert or Isonstine who've been online since (not sure if Asa has been online) I went ahead with the closure.

On the subject of ITV News on ITV1 it was nice to see a mention of the news channels' closure, paying a breif tribute to it.

How very annoying!

Maybe Andrew you should rename this the ITV1 news thread - so there is no confusion that we aren't allowed to talk about the proposed ITV2/3 bulletins?

I doubt there would be much mileage talking about those "proposed" bulletins anywhere. I'll believe them when I see them

You know full well that is a very very thin reason for closing it. Just because you *can* really doesn't mean you should.

Andrew is right, we were in the middle of a discussion. The closure of the news channel isn't the closure of ITV News in general. Why had the other one been on the verge of closure before? Anyway, it's closed now, nothing we can do about it except boo and hiss Charlie.

So, when are Catherwood and Derham set to return? Somebody said this Christmas.

When Katie first left, it was mentioned that she would be back at the very end of he year. Seems like the Network refresh is now the more likely option.

As for Andrea, I have learnt from a source that she would return in the first quarter of next year.

What with the situation now, its even more relavant that Alastair Stewart should have got the ITV Nightly News job instead of Mark Austin

It's going to be a big come down for Alastair, now going back to just doing regional news

I personally believe he will be made the primary stand-in for Mark on the Nightly.
