My comments on the above two 'reports', is my philosophy....
1] Concerning video packages: I am positive that news reports have to be filed a few minutes before it is aired and so cannot be changed within a minute or so before it is aired. Probably.
while....
2] The autocue might be changed within seconds, seeing as that does not require pictures, or maybe there is for the newscaster's amusement.

I am bringing you information which I think is relevant to this thread. Now, with threads or postings which don't interest me, I don't read them.
OK, Mr. Square Eyes?

The thread interests me, your contributions don't.

That's the problem.

Media Guardian - ITV News hits ratings low
http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,7493,1405288,00.html

The piece is a bit unfair I think - if it's been averaging 3.8 million so far this year, that's not too far off the 4 million target, is it?

Problems on the News Channel - long breakfiller at 5.30 - then the post-break sting, then straight into a package from London Today about the Olympics, then back to the breakfiller and now adverts.

The entire article seems to be based around last night's edition which only got poor ratings due to Dead Man Weds which nobody seems to be watching. Why the felt the need to go on and on as if it gets that kind of figure every night is very tabloid.

Not to mention that the 6.30pm is the flagship bulletin

They're journalists, even worse they're Guardian journalists. So no need to let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I wonder if the person who wrote it realises how stupid it looks to write "The viewing figure is a far cry from the 4 million viewers ITN executives aimed for a year ago," and then a few sentences later "So far this year, the late evening bulletin has attracted an average audience of 3.8 million "

Not true actually, to quote the itv site:

Sir Trevor McDonald presents the ITV News at 10.30, our new flagship bulletin.

Interesting, I was watching the Lunchtime News online and noticed this on the headline sequence - what appears to be some sort of ITV News branded VISA card...

Is this just a different card that happens to look like the ITV Regional News titles?

Looks like there was a problem at the start of tonight;s Evening News. The 1st package wasn't ready and Bill handed straight over to Katie for the next story. No relevant background, just the standard ITV blue and yellow.

EDIT - FABULOUS TO SEE KATIE BACK, and PREGNANT!!!!!
