And talking about the ITV News Auschwitz Special, which was obviously recorded even though there is nothing wrong with that, is going to be repeated on ITV1 at 1.05 Monday morning.

Concerning the ITN News studios: Personally, I don't mind if it is broadcast in a shed, as long as it gives a high standard of journalism. For me, even something like a green background and that is enough for me.

And finally, if ITN News At Ten ever comes back, it may not be as successful as the Trevor McDonald/Alastair Burnet era because of the rise of multi-channels since then, but I am positively sure that if ITN gets back its old salary, it can still have a place in TV and knock the 10 o' clock BBC News off the ratings, I'm sure.

Nice use of an old catchphrase, there.

"ITN gets back its old salary"?? What does that mean? And anyway, you make it sound as though ITV News never beats the BBC in the ratings, which is not at all true.

It is. This is my much missed catchphrase.

This is what I mean:
"ITN gets back its old salary" - Currently, ITN only gets £36 million, so presumably, they don't have enough money to search for exclusive coverage, in which News At Ten [the ITN version, not the ITV News version] were successful at, and got 7 or 8 million regular viewers where nowadays they get at least 3 million regular viewers.

And, I do understand that ITV News do beat BBC News in the ratings but this only happens now and again. I enjoy watching ITV News more than the BBC and Sky News. But, I bet, if the ITN name ever gets reinstated onto ITV1, and if News At Ten ever came back, I am sure that the TV ratings will be the other way round: BBC News - 2 million regular viewers, ITN News - 5 million regular viewers.

I dont think a name change would make any difference. Oh yes, I think I will watch ITN tonight as its a better name than ITV News. For god sake its the bloody same name anyway.

Another unusual lineup today, with Leyla Daybelge making a Sunday appearance. Lauren Taylor has also been presenting.

Yesterday Jonathan Wills did a couple of hours on the News Channel between the London bulletins (like he used to do last year). And Jasmine Lowson appeared for an hour at 5pm, with Carrie Frais doing a very long shift.

The new weekend shifts seem a bit odd. John Nicolson was on air for 2 hours 20 minutes this evening.

Jasmine Lowson? Nice to know that she's back at ITN. Didn't see move onto do the 60 seconds bulletins on BBC Three and some reports for Liquid News and the 7 O Clock News after the Big Breakfast finished?

I still don't understand why the News Channel can't have fixed presenters, they even have trailers saying that they have, when in reality it's only Andrew & Lucy, Alastair and Angela that are on at their advertised times (and of course the Lunchtime, Evening and Late bulletins).

The other's seem as though they're all popped into a hat and picked out for a different hour, when they will most probably appear for the first hour, be solo for the second and turn up 5 hours later with somebody different.

As for tonights ITV News at 11 with Andrea Catherwood, it was only billed as a 5 minute bulletin (yet was extended to a 15), and so it was Andrea sitting down, but with the usually graphics (the flying squares and globes that appear when they cut to the studio before the headlines) behind her, looked very nice indeed, if only they could do away with the squares, or at least try something different.

The sound levels on Andrea's mic were either wrong or something was affecting the mic, as it seemed to go strange, I don't really know what to call it, echoey I suppose. A bit like if you put your TV speakers to their highest, on certain sounds you get echoing and booming, it sounded like that.

And no my TV wasn't too loud, and the speakers are fine with everything else.

As for the end shot tonight, I didn't know what they'd do in the second studio, but it ended quite normally using the wide high shot, and I couldn't tell the difference.

So I'm not sure whether they were from the normal studio but kept the angles closed for some reason, whether they swapped at some point in the programme, or whether it was clever CSOing, that they never seem to use on the News Channel, but if it was, they can and should.

I'm inclined to think the last one as they just used to wide shot with no sweep over the studio or pan around the desk.

The 11pm bulletin came from the main studio

Jasmine's been at ITN the ITV2/3 showbiz updates for a while and appearing as a studio contributor on the News Channel on a regular basis. But yesterday was the first time I have seen her presenting on the channel.

Oh right. Sorry for my spouting! But why did they only have close up shots throughout the programme, until the end?
I would have though they'd have used the wide shot at the start or a pan or something, it used seemed like the second studio as the only shots I saw were Andrea in a single shot and then the one looking at her side to the screen that's used on the second studio bulletins.

Oh right, I haven't noticed her before.
Though I still don't understand the Entertainment Bulletins appearing on ITV3, nor on ITV2 for that matter.

I'd much prefer to see a 60 seconds type bulletin on ITV2 with a liquid news style show for the entertainment news.

Thinking about it, a small team like Jasmine Lowson, Chris Rogers and somebody else like Carrie Frais would be nice on ITV2 just with hourly updates and maybe a couple of 15 minute quick fire bulletins.
I know I'd prefer news to entertainment.
Though I suppose as of tomorrow, Michael Jackson will be the leading story!

I didn't actually see the late ITV1 bulletin - but the News Channel was certainly coming from the second studio at 11pm with Nazanine Moshiri.

The weekend bulletins always look a bit more limited and static because they don't use the jib at all.

Anyway - the glass top of the desk is always the giveaway - if it's black and there's a reflection of the newswall then it's the main studio, and if it's white and you can apparently see 'through' the top of the desk to the walkway behind, then it's the second studio.
