Yep, Nina presented the Lunchtime News, with Nick getting quite confused at some places, I don't think he had an autocue and had to keep looking at his paper... Nice to see at least a bit of coverage from the region's news presenters too there (in the form of Fiona Armstrong)!

Anyone noticed that the sting which displays on the newswall after 'some more of today's news' went a bit wrong on the Lunchtime News... I think they cut it a bit to early and showed some of the clock face. Smile

They are done by an in-vision reporter at Traffliclink standing in front of a plasma showing motorway cameras (as per the GMTV London Today travel updates)

Yes, there is a sponsor bumper and sting. Not much to write home about though.


Travel News is also in the evening.

The regular presenters are Gemma Hadley during breakfast (although a bloke is doing it this week) and Julia Abbott during the evening peak.

It would be nice if the name was consistent - is it Travel Latest, Travel Update or ITV Traffic Updates?

Dont think much of the graphics for Travel News Update. Why has the sting got 5 squares? and why doesnt it match with the Weather/Snow/Buisness Sting?! Makes it look messy.

I agree - though bear in mind that the Weather/Business bumpers aren't currently in use (due to the lack of sponsors) so there isn't a consistency issue at the moment.

of course, forgot about that. I wish they would sort out the newswall behind them because every story you get a different shot. Some consistency please! Its ridiculous how far the camera is away sometimes, when nothing is displayed on the newswall!

I wonder if we're going to see any changes to the news channel - at the moment it just seems to be plodding along rather than progress...
They could do a lot more with the evenings...

Any idea when its back on freeview in the south?

Maybe they're holding off on major changes until the channel is back on DTT across the country?

Maybe the election campaign will be the catalyst for further changes?

Also it seems that the new hour-long ITV Lunchtime News will start in March, so it wouldn't be surprising to see some schedule changes on the News Channel at that point.

Well according to the ITV plc website, it said that the ITV NC ad revenue increased by 100% over the past year or something, so doesnt that mean double the money? So they should be providing a much better service, if they have doubled their income!

Hardly. A year ago I saw some figures which said that News Channel ad revenue was £2 million last year, when the channel's costs (over and above the ITV1 news contract) were around the £5 million mark.

Even if they've doubled the revenue, the channel is still losing money.

Is it actually worth ITV having a news channel?! They should have just left it to ITN. I thought it would be much higher than 5m a year, considering everything!
