It's a shame that ITV don't do anything for the new year majorly. Like they've got an angus deayton programme on Sunday that could have easily switched with Roman Road, and then introduced an evening of live or new year related shows.
Anyway back to ITV News.
This will be the first year of the virtual studio. Hopefully they will use it more than to just sit there.
If my memory's right didn't Katie usually sit on the edge of the desk with the images on the screen?
It was laid back and not so much news, just a happy new year. It would be nice to see a similar approach this year sitting on the front of the desk with the camera panning around to show the different locations on the wall behind, at least it would make it less news like.
If they don't go for something like this hopefully it will be a walk along the wall rather than a sitting behind the desk job!
Just watching the ITV News Channel this morning and they crossed over live to Steve Scott in Thailand to present from 0830; I wonder if Mark Austin or any other presenters are out there as well
I think most of the high profile newsreaders are only presenting for one day, so you might not see Mark until next Tuesday (when the Evening News returns I believe)! I wonder if Steve Scott will be doing the ITV1 Network Bulletins live from Thailand then?

Yes, it is a shame, really, isn't it? Back in the days of ITN News, they used to put their New Year specials on for something like an hour, didn't they. Shame.
Does anyone know if ITV1 will simuclast with the ITV News Channel? They will be probably use the likes of Angela Rippon. On second thoughts, no, very unlikely.

Nice to see Andrew Harvey again on New Year's Eve. Pairing up with Felicity Barr in London and Steve Scott in Thailand - it's a first, I believe.

I know Felicity Barr presented the 6.40pm bulletin, so I'm guessing she'll be doing the 10.45pm bulletin and appearing again at 11.55pm, if scheduled. It's weird as Katie Derham usually presents on New Years Eve, then I remember she came back on at 11.55pm one year and she was wearing something completly different!
Felicity Barr appeared on ITV1, ITV2 and ITV News with a joint simulcast of Big Ben, but more serious due to the Tsunami and even a mention of the donation line at the end.
