Granada used one for about 2 weeks after the generic look was introduced then it disappeared, it now only appears on the astons and straps etc.

Hmmmmm

Alistair Burnet and Sandy Gall are both in their seventies and probably not willing to come back to newscasting.

David Cass is actually out here in the Middle East with Abu Dhabi TV. He is very well known and liked locally. Often see him on a plane going somewhere. So would be nice to see him back at ITN too.

Peter Sissons - why not! Would be a good replacement for Trevor when he retires, IMO.

Nicholas Owen - fabulous newscaster. Long may he continue.

Others - not really too sure if they would ever come back, let alone be asked back.

In general terms, I can't take news seriously if the newscaster is standing up!

On another separate note, when is Nighty Maringale coming back? Heard she has just had a little un.

Odd, when I was in Wales, this August, they had a DOG up all the time, it was quite crammed to get ITV Wales News to not hang out to far over the blue/yellow squares. Maybe it has changed since then?

Mary was on celebrity Millionaire over Christmas (it was shown on Boxing Day, but Chris kept saying Christmas Eve, so they thought it was going to be shown on Christmas Eve?) with Des Lynham (apologies for spelling) and she hadn't had her baby yet, apparently it was due in one month.

John

PS I heard them use phone-a-friend on a question to somebody called Mark, however, I didn't catch exactly who. Might it have been Mark Austin?

But they were still using it in August, I think, but I'm now beginning to think they might not have... Confused

That was a repeat from Christmas 2002 I think (Mary was on maternity leave during the Iraq war in early 2003, so it much have been!). Having a pregnant Mary on over the festive period probably counts towards ITV's religious quota! Laughing

Maybe so, but I was under the impression it was quite recent... Confused:

Nick Owen is on today with an extended edition of ITV News (6:40 - 7:00). Which really means fifteen minutes instead of twelve... Wink I see tommorows schedule has a full 30 minute Morning News, a short 10 minute Lunchtime News, 15 minute Evening News & a full 30 minute News at 10:30 after Midsomer Murders. Smile So nearly back to normal, but strangely not a full Evening News, but that would require two presenters...

I hardly think they are not doing a full half hour because it would require two presenters!
i imagine its more to do with the network allocating them that amount of time and nothing to do with ITN at all. I suspect if it was up to ITN they would do a half hour.

I suppose they like to have the 6pm slot free for films or 'comedy', which appears at the moment to be You've Been Framed, although just now there was something about Lulu. This week the original trilogy Star Wars films are being shown, so I suppose that is the reason for the shorten Lunchtime News.

Well unless it came back for a short while in August, I certainly dont remember seeing it unless I was on holiday at the time

Looking at tommorows schedules the regions have GMTV bulletins, a short lunchtime bulletin, a 15 minute evening bulletin and a normal late bulletin incorporated into the ITV News at 10.30.

I dont see the argument between the name ITN and ITV News, its the bloody same name for god sake, and for someone to be really against it is really sad. It will still be the same whether its ITN or ITV News.
