No ITV News Network programme tonight, despite the use of the regional backdrop.

It looks like Rachel McTavish is doing the overnight shifts over Christmas.

Nicholas Owen will do the ITV1 News on New Year's Day for the second time in a row. Poor thing.

So no Jemma Woodman this year? It would of been three years in a row.

Can anyone tell me how is it possible that the background image is reflected on the top of the desk?

Interestingly when the jib is used the reflection is not always quite right...

In my opinion, news bulletins should not have adverts in the middle and they should stick to the schedule, because I've noticed the Evening News quite often ends at 6:55, the weather takes about three minutes then it is adverts for four - six minutes! Perhaps all news bulletins (30 minute ones anyway) should start exactly, the example here is the Lunchtime News, at 12:30, end at 13:00, with the weather at 13:01 and the next programme starting at 13:03, cutting out adverts in the middle of the programme and at the end, where the next programme follows on after the weather.

I don't think they should make the 'off-peak' bulletins any longer, but I think they should consider at 45/60 minute Evening News, where more analysis of the main stories could be made (maybe two 'close-ups', one into the main story of the day and another into a secondary story), markets update and sports news (although this wouldn't feature much because most football is over the weekend).

Or maybe the Evening News schedule could be changed to run as follows:

6:00 ITV Evening News
6:30 Regional News Update
6:40 ITV Sport Round-up
6:50 ITV National Weather
7:00 Regional News Programmes
7:20 ITV National News Update
7:25 Regional Weather Programme
7:30 End of Regional News

My two pence,
John

But still, how is this reflection 'done'? As far as I know the background is not there, as it is CSO. But how can a non-existent thing be reflected? Very Happy Please...
p.s. Merry Christmas to you all!

It only works properly when the camera is above the surface of the desk. What they must do is from where the wall ends at the bottom, is reflect it and add a dark coatings. The green reflection in the desk obviously picks it up.

The traditional festive ITN endcap there on ITV News - large snowflakes falling across the screen with some holly on the lower right corner of the 'N'. Rather a nice touch. Unfortunately, I didn't get a screencap - presumably, it'll be used again tomorrow?

So which presenters have we had today on itv news and the itvnc...?

I know Shuilie did Breakfast, then Jon Nicolson

James Mates did the lunchtime news on itv1 with Steve Scott doing the evening.

So Rahman is either doing late shift or on overnight (well he was on at 12.15)

He'll be doing Nights, he did it last year, he is only one of few people or the only person at Granada News who is presenting over the Christmas break, must be low of presenters doing the Night shift at ITN or something, though I don't think Granada are that bothered as they have no bulletins until Monday.

Anyway Owen Thomas sounded like he was going to loose his voice at 8.45am this morning as he was excited it was Christmas, but fortunately for his sake it was when they were going into a break.
