What's wrong with ITV News claiming they broke that scoop? I believe it did. I saw BBC News 24 at 5.54pm - they had nothing. Sky News - 5.57pm nothing.
But flicking between my ITV regional news service, Channel 4 and five, I saw that Jon Snow broke in to The Simpsons on Channel 4. Nothing with five until 7 for Charlie Stayt's news bulletin, and my local newsreader saying something about it, as he introduced Mark and Nina.
Hmmmm, I dont like this self-congratulatory thing that ITV News Channel are doing claiming they broke the Blunkett story. OK SO WHAT? That is exactly what a news channel should be doing - but this is stupid if they prepare a fanfare and package everytime they break a bit of news - this should be a norm for ANY/EVERY news channel not an exception!
One thing I would say in their favour is that with stories like Boscastle and mudslide in Scotland - their coverage was impressive and its coverage like that they should feature in some new promotions.
ITV News did seem to be ahead yesterday with their 18:30 bulletin! It's such a shame that this self-congratulatory attitude made a totally mess of today's 18:30 bulletin! Even the picture was the wrong shape for most of the bulletin!

I didn't see today's 1830. What do you mean "the picture was the wrong shape for most of the bulletin"?
I was also watching ITV NEWS on ITV1 and the picture looked rather stretched, on my portable it looked very odd.
I think they were in 16:9 for the bulletin
In one part of ITV NEWS they were having technical difficulties speaking live reporters.
But Felicity Barr did apologise!!!!!!
Anyone see the fake news report on Frank Skinner tonight? It had the News Channel graphics and everything, something different in the lower left corner though. Very odd. Anyway.
