Yes, it is quite possible that Alastair Stewart was featured on This Is Your Life.

Also Alastair is presenting between 10am and upto MIDDAY today!

Alastair has stuck around to provide coverage of the pre-budget speech.
ITV News Channel has stuck with live coverage even though ITV1 is showing the Lunchtime News.

Shame the opening to the ITV Lunchtime News was a shambles and instead cut to the presenter (can never think of his name) after there was no sound on the opening!

It would be Bill Neely - he's done it since Monday. Plus, I think James is in Washington just now.

Indeed it was Bill Neely.

ITV1 introduced the programme, and then the clock struck half past with no sound, and then went into the main headline footage with no sound, and then cut to Bill in the studio without going to the titles, no backing bed, yet Bill's sound seemed fine. Very strange, and the show continued from there.

Also there were NO regional headlines at the beginning of the programme either - possibly due to the technical glitch!

Did Diana really say that? Bets on who it could be - Alastair Burnet, Sandy Gall and Reginald Bosanquet.

.

Was it the late Andrew Gardner, who went onto Thames News?

(I think it was a joint BBC / ITN production, with both ITN & the Beeb's person(Angela Rippon?) asking the questions)

They were getting no audio from the server that was playing the pre recorded opening sequence. They had to cut to the studio and drop the regional headline opt.

Is it me or does the ITV News opening theme sound different sometimes? Sometimes it sounds like a few notes are missed out on the opening sequence. Also the morning news seems to have a really slightly different sound. Its not just on my TV, there are also differences on downloads from websites. The Morning News sounds slightly different, after the first headline, when the clock goes into the squares, and when it fades to the studio, some beats seem to be taken out. Anyone else noticed this?

Yes, that's what I thought. The ITV 5.30 morning news certainly has a different tune to it - after the first headline, it is noticably different, not seen on other bulletins - before it goes to its headline bed.

I was just playing back my Lunchtime & Morning News' videos and I did notice some slight difference in the theme after the main headline. My copy of the Morning News (From 02 Feb - First day of the new ITV News) has no titles on the headlines and has four instead of the usual three.

The number of yellow squares in the world flythrough relates to the time of day, the Lunchtime has many, the Evening has a couple and the Late has none. But the Morning, at 5:30, has the same as the lunchtime?!? It is usually dark still at 5:30... Also it is reflected by the light on the clock face, see my signature below. I have noticed when there is a regional headline 'throw' in the main headlines, the four square part always starts with a screen of blue squares which the clock face cuts across and there is no swing of light across the squares, unlike the bulletins without a regional throw (Evening and Morning).

ITV News Channel have stuck with the Madrid explosions from 17:45 through to 18:27.

Leyla presented from the smaller studio with Philip Reay-Smith in the ITV Newsroom.

Both ITV and SKY used the same Spanish news channel feed and even the same people on the phone - Bill Bond!

Just after 18:10 SKY left the story to return to 'normal' news whereas BBC News 24 seemed to be doing their own thing throughout with just the odd mention once the sport was out of the way.

Annoyingly adverts cut Lelya off mid-flow at 17:57 Sad SHAME ON the advert button presser person!!! Sad

Owen on fire tonight on the NC film review - really lively and funny debate.
Where's Joyce? Have they finally realised she's not very good and got rid of her? Owen's also been doing the late london tonight news instead of her.... much better imo.
