A great shame really! Strange that SKY didnt feature much either!
I'm sure last time something like this happened in Wales - the ITV News Channel broadcast the whole night's programme from HTV Wales live on the ITV News Channel until 05:30am!

It's a shame that the News Channel hasn't linked up with Tyne Tees's coverage of the NE devolution referendum tonight.

Ah well that was Wales...this is the north we are talking about...a strange mystical land largely ignored by the London media who really aren't sure where Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds are on a map.
I agree they should have taken the Tyne Tees coverage. Didn't see much as I went to bed but the bit I did see looked very good. Judging by what's on ITN today they used all their pictures and even bits from their studio discussion-where would ITN be without the regions?????

But surely ITN have regional bureaux? And anyway, I thought one of the key points of ITV (in terms of news) is that the regional news providers do indeed contribute feeds to the national network. It would be silly if it were any other way, wouldn't it?

Indeed - which is why IIRC at the time of the merger (or maybe slightly earlier) ITV clamped down on the regional ITV newsrooms selling pictures to Sky News.

Now I will get moaned about for writing this saying this is a grown up forum and I will get belittled for it but: would you reckon the ITN Newscasters doing something "silly" for Children In Need?
Now, again, I know this is completely pointless, but BBC Newsreaders always do it every year and I was just wondering - should ITN do their bit this year?
How about somebody like Nicholas Owen doing the Time Warp with Martyn Davies?

Yes I also noticed that and thought what a long presenting day John has had!

Indeed and they do have a northern office (in Manchester I believe)...however it does seem they rely very heavily indeed on the regions.
There have been times when they have missed a story, seen it on the Beeb and then had to fall back on a regional newsroom for the pictures. Nothing wrong with that but they do seem over reliant on their regional chums!

Good to see her back.
Jonathan Morrell has done very well this weekend as well, on all evening yesterday and then from 11am to 4pm give or take an hour or so this afternoon.
Phil Gayle has also been on. They had one of those cockups where they stay too long on the shot of studio at the start of an ad break leaving the presenter sat there. I've only ever seen this happen when Phil has been presenting
