Phil Gayle is not as bad as Linda "just as annoying as sian jones Barker", nobody can be that bad. Maybe he can't brush off the Big Breakfast voice, when everybody shouted as they talked.

Those trailers advertising the Alastair Stewart, Angela Rippon and Joyce Ohajah trailers are ALWAYS on. They're good, but they are showing them all the time - it's annoying like those Curry adverts.

Whoops, ITV Lunchtime News came back from the break and the fancy camera (can't remember proper name) came in straight on James at the desk (like it usually does at 10.30), but then they cut straight into a shot of James ( the one with the graphics of the story to the left of the presenter) and the fancy camera was right in shot too, but they quickly cut out of that shot.

For ITN's 50th birthday celebrations, do you think the ITV "snobs who axed ITN for ITV News" will show old ITN bulletins, or do you reckon ITV will only allow ITN its very briefest clips or not at all?
And, do you reckon people from ITN from the 50's-'90s are going to pop by ITN Headquarters for an on-air interview?

I don't know, but it's always struck me as odd that people like David Nicholas drone on about how terrible ITV is for cutting ITN's budget etc. when you can pretty easily trace the reason back to the plan, led by Nicholas and Alastair Burnet, for the ITV companies being prevented by legislation from owning their own news provider.

For the first time ever (AFAIK) the News Channel is being dual-anchored beyond 9pm with Chris Rogers and Owen Thomas

They are showing Scottish news in the News at 10.30 on the news channel. Good move.

Interesting to see more advanced presentation than usual in tonight's 11.30 bulletin, even though it's from the CSO - lots of full-size story backdrops and use of the sideways shot.

Only between 8pm and 9pm as usual I guess.

I do wish they'd find two presenters for the 7pm hour.

And it's a shame that 1pm-4pm is single-anchored during August. But I guess they are fairly stretched with lots of presenters on holiday and a big team in Athens, not to mention the financial side.

Shame they are back in the London Tonight studio for the 10pm bulletin tonight for the first time this week.

It wouldn't be so bad if the image behind the presenter wasn't so poor.

Since the improved second studio was introduced, the 10pm half-hour is now the only glaring break in the continuity of the presentation on the News Channel.

(ITV News Network is fine in the London studio, IMO)

I don't think anyone has mentioned this interview with Deborah Turness (editor of ITV News) on the forum.

Quite interesting reading.

Don't quite understand this part:

The 37-year-old Turness made her name at Five News and is now charged with revamping ITV's tired-looking news bulletins.

Surely Mannion did that a year ago (without mentioning the expensive recent relaunch).

And IIRC she has been working at ITN for ITV for a few months now, so it's hardly as if she's been parachuted with the intention of saving news on ITV... or am I just missing something here?
