The new, what I call the "teaser graphics" have made a larger airing tonight, it was animating on the story that featured the Number Plate on tonight's Evening News. I will do a small mock, so you can see what I'm talking about. It looks a little like the new ITV3 background, with curvy lines, and four squares features in with them, especially with the new look ITV1, 2 and 3 on Monday...
I emailed ITV News through the ITN.co.uk website to say that I was unhappy with the fact they were still promoting the ITV News Channel on Freeview 41 but hadnt informed viewers that it was on a limited service. I threatened to talk to Ofcom about it and a day later, the change had been made.
That "America Decides" trailers the News Channel puts up are brilliant. Great build-up to it - why doesn't ITV1, ITV2 and ITV3 show them!?
From what I have seen ITV News Channel have covered the American election race much better than I expected (better than some bi-elections that we have had in this Country!)
Im sure there has been weekly reports at 20:30 on a Thursday night with Felcicity Barr and guests for the last few months. And now for the last few weeks there has been increased coverage from the USA - with some reports from ABC or NBC correspondants (cant remember which!). Nick Robinson travelled to America week before last to present some 'special' reports for ITV News on ITV1 and now it seems that Alastair Stewart has joined him over there aswell.
There has been a really polished promotion for the ITV NC's coverage - were these graphics made exclusively for ITV News or have they been adapted from an American TV station?
Also do we know which studio in USA is the ITV coverage being broadcast from?
PS Owen Thomas' hair doesnt look much different apart from too much gel!
Owen's hair was different...it had been cut different, but it appears he's gone back to the older style (which is still fab!) to impress his co-presenters.
Katie Ledger and Owen were very good earlier...and Jonathon Morrell and Owen have a surprising amount of good banter going between them. The ITV News Channel really is something completely different compared to even a year ago now. Certainly a watchable news channel.
I am looking forward to Tuesday Night, if the Election special programme was anything to go by. Will there just be Robert Moore and John Irvine from the ITV1 team there or any others?
