Good to see another great Evening News, very funny...

What happened? I hope you are talking about the end of the programme where the 'funny' things tend to happen, if you can call them funny, as most opf the beginning would have probably been the Anthony Walker story.

Is Owen Thomas now doing the morning news, again?[QUOTE]

I don't think so. He was doing breakfast with Shulie Ghosh this morning. They made a very good couple. He must have been filling in if soomeone was sick.

Different person every night this week on the ITV News at 10.30

Mon - Trevor
Tue - Mark
Wed - Alastair

Will it be James Mates tommorow?!

No, it's a rare 10.30 appearance from Mary.

Tonight its Steve Scott - a different one for each night!

So,

Monday: Trevor McDonald
Tuesday: Mark Austin
Wednesday: Alastair Stewart
Thursday: Mary Nightingale
Friday: Steve Scott

Will that be the same for every week do you know?

Whatamess!

In the past I haven't really rated James Mates as a great presenter but seeing him present the News at Ten Thirty a few times had made me change my mind.

I would use Mark Austin as the main anchor and have James Mates as the stand-by. His voice and attributes really suits the late news and isn't as dramatic as Alastair Stewart.

Bit weird, it's almost as if they were running a week of auditions to see who performed best in the slot.

If they were, I would most definately say Alastair was the best.

We all know that Wednesday's presenter should get the job permanently, but it's already been decided that it is Tuesday's, by all accounts.

Trevor is winding down now, if he carries on like this he'll probably only have 3 shows left, although he may do all 4 days in his final week.

Pitty the Radio Times no longer lists the presenter schedules

Funny enough The Radio Times Has all of the ITV news prime time presenters listed in the new xmas guide

I don't reckon they're 'auditioning' as it would appear they have already done this a while back. Maybe it's simply to give a little variation? Can anybody tell me the reason why Trevor hardly ever does more than three days in a row, other than his age?

Obviously they were not however, as the 10.30 placement has now been filled. It just points to mere coincidence; the Monday and Friday slots are relatively normal; the only real difference to normal being Wednesday's and Thursday's anchors, where I assume neither Mark or Trevor (surprise, surprise) were available.

I would point out Mary's appearence though as being quite signifiant; its not unusual for James or Steve to be pulled in on a Thursday.

Yes, I don't think Mary has done a 10.30 this year at all. (Correct me ifi'm wrong)
