Yes, it's the same on Freeview, and has been since Tuesday morning.
Until now, the ads have been played out by NTL (Arqiva), as part of the legacy of the ITN News Channel which was co-owned by NTL.
Given the latest cockup, I wonder if the channel's playout has now moved to the South Bank?
Until now the ads have always been 14:9 in a 4:3 frame.
Interesting. Thanks for that.
It seems interesting that the adverts are 16:9 in a 4:3 frame.
I wonder whether this could be testing, or the first transition to South Bank, or could it be NTL's fault?
As for the channel, if they wanted to, could they broadcast the adverts in 16:9, or will they have to do something to the channel?

I think it's been mentioned somewhere on here before, but on Sky, not sure about freeview and cable, the adverts on the News Channel seem to be full 16:9 adverts, yet squished into a 4:3 frame.

I I was just wondering who broadcast the adverts, do they broadcast them from the South Bank, the same as the other ITV channels, or are they controlled at Greys Inn Road by ITN?

And is the channel capable of displaying 16:9 adverts and trailers even if the channel itself is 4:3?
