If you're referring to the 2130-2200 News Channel slot, then that always comes from the LT studio.
I think he means the 2200-2230 [the forum clock is a few minutes' out], which came from the LT studio, as is the norm when the same presenter is doing ITV News Network, the 2200 bulletin on the News Channel and the late London Tonight.

Ok that makes sense. So Sasha did the LT late bulletin last night?

Yep. Joyce co-presented the 6pm London Tonight, as Nina was on Evening News duty.
Do you guys in London actually like Ben Scotchbrook and Joyce? They must be the most tedious presenters to watch. Ben is particularly bad on the News Channel.

I quite like Ben Scotchbrook but he's not a natural presenter. Given time he could be good but its chucking him in the deep end to have him presenting on LT. He does have a good sense of humour when he relaxs and he did a good job of winding up Tamsin Sylvester when he worked with her last week.

You've already been banned about five times. When are you going to take the hint?
How have I already been banned? It doesn't say banned under my name...
Well it should do soon, Bailey.
Ahhhhh the penny's dropped. I thought he was familiar.
I'd just like to point out / check that you're not refering to me.

Don't worry, he's referring to the oft-banned user Old Bailey, also known as ITV N.E.W.S., ..MARK AUSTIN.., Sasha and a host of other usernames.
Yeah, sorry Bail about that (!) and cheers James for clearing that one up.

I recently got Sky+ and for the first time I switched regions during the Lunchtime News.
I'm sure it's already been mentioned in the 288 pages of this thread, but why is ITV News in widescreen down in London, while up here in Scotland it's 4:3? Presumably because of the 16:9 cameras for London Today, but it can't be too hard to switch ratio while crossing to the regions. Can it?

ITV News isn't in widescreen - it is still in 4:3. What happens on ITV1 London is that the 4:3 ITV News output (for both ITV1 network bulletins and London Tonight) is cropped and zoomed to 14:9 pillarbox, just like an old analogue BBC One region. It looks almost as soft and horrid as a result. They've done this because ITV News really stuck out as a 4:3 show on the otherwise nearly universally 16:9 ITV1.
ITV News are still producing their main bulletins and London Tonight in 4:3 - but they are now framing them to be safe for the crop/zoom. Apparently the extremely low budget that ITN pitched to retain the ITV News contract means they have no money to move to 16:9 production.
Now that BBC News, Five News and Sky News are all full 16:9 it really does stick out...

Excuse my ignorance here, I'm not really up on technical stuff, but why does it cost to move to 16:9 production? I take it it's not simply a case of making the picture a different shape?
