ITV NC has a new promo voiced by Mark Austin based around the notion of ITV NC as a 'rolling' news channel (obviously a dig at Sky's new appointment-to-view schedule)
Ironically it's a 4:3 promo squashed to 14:9... kind of sums up the whole channel - lots of potential, but never gets it
quite

Wouldn't you agree that they're digging their own hole there James, considering the fact that the NC is
hardly
rolling with their overnight record, yet their two British rivals are?

Indeed plus they hardly 'roll' when they interrupt coverage of events for simulcasts of ITV1 bulletins which not so long ago they were advertising as an advantage to the channel (remember the 'no need to switch over for Trevor' campaign?)
Still strange things going on - Andrew Harvey is now presenting from the London News studio, even though Alastair said he would be back after the break (he was a bit confused about the matter though!)
The 12noon summary was a standard locked CSO shot, as opposed to the usual newswall slot, so I guess they still have problems, though I guess the summary is usually done from the main studio.
I hear the flood took out the main ITV control room so they are having to work around to give ITV progs the chance to rehearse and prepare. So as far as i can make out the normal News Channel gallery being used for ITV programmes. Newschannel goes elsewhere. Probably more convenient to use the "London studio " so the same crew(the ones doing newschannel) can easily do the London opt immediately after without having to waste time switching everything.
I may of course be wrong......!
Could have been a good opportunity for the ITV NC to broadcast Central News at Six tonight with the events in Birmingham over the weekend, and more specifically, to get around some of the problems they are having currently in their main alternative studios.
Just wondering then if for any reason ITN are unable to broadcast from it's own studios, what is the back up plan?
