Great start to EXTRA with Mark on the phone

Looking at the stills, that's interesting..... the "talkback" or IFB on remote satellite links (ie foreign and a long way away) is usually done on satellite phones.

That depends where they are in the world. The vast majority of satellite links have comms coming over the satellite, which is different to a satellite phone, if you see what I mean. Alternatively, perhaps the comms hadn't failed and Mark was simply phoning the newsdesk. I didn't see it so I don't know.

Yep, I think Mark was phoning the newsdesk, I don't think they'd planned to use Mark for EN Extra.

There have been a lot of problems today. During 'The Pulse' on the Lunchtime News for example, the newswall was going crazy with it zooming in and out and changing angles etc. They quickly changed the camera to a wide shot. I guess they forgot about it and cut to the same camera and it did the same thing again!

Can someone help me out here, is the Theatre of News the newswall AND walkway or just the screen behind them?

Aren't you gone yet Ol' Bailey? You know, there is such a thing as IP logging so you may as well give up. Anyway, everyone can tell when it's you in disguise.

Seeing as how you do this with alarming regularity - it would be a good idea for you to check and see if it says "Banned" under your name over on the left.

If it does - and in all likelyhood it will - you should stop posting, and perhaps lay down and die.

I'm fairly flexible about the second part so long as you just stop posting.

Mark Austin appears to be more or less co-presenting the News from Pakistan with Alastair Stewart this evening.

Oh yes, and amidst the talk of Mark Webster having left ITN - i don't remember seeing John Draper for a few months either. Anything to do with the fact that they now have a second permanent over-night presenter on the NC nowadays?

Is your question prompted by the fact that Mr Draper got a namecheck in tonight's 'A Very Social Secretary'? Laughing

Subsciously probably - as i don't remember the namecheck!

Particularly enjoyable 'Pulse' this afternoon. First time I'd ever watched.

Rob from Derbyshire on Muslims/immigrants/terrorists (They're all the same, aren't they? (C) Daily Mail 2005):

''Kick 'em out. They should all be shot. Hanging's too good''

Good to see ITV hand pick the finest of their viewers to put their opinions across.

If it's like this every day I'll watch more often.
