Looking at the stills, that's interesting..... the "talkback" or IFB on remote satellite links (ie foreign and a long way away) is usually done on satellite phones.
That depends where they are in the world. The vast majority of satellite links have comms coming over the satellite, which is different to a satellite phone, if you see what I mean. Alternatively, perhaps the comms hadn't failed and Mark was simply phoning the newsdesk. I didn't see it so I don't know.
