Just thought I'd revive this thread to stop it disappearing. I do have a question though.. On Saturday morning, I was watching the News Channel with Faye Barker and they did a full headline sequence (like they do at the top of the hour) at 7.30AM. Why would they have done this? Perhaps it is because John Nicolson was on at 8.00 and they don't do the normal headline sequence with him.

At weekends, 7.30 is a repeat of the previous half-hour.

I don't know if it has been mentioned above already, but I am amazed that Sir Trevor McDonald has been included (as the only news journalist, from what I can see) in the UK's equivalent to the Walk of Fame, or whatever it is called, with stars inlaid in the pavement.
He may be the most famous newsman of CURRENT times, but he is by no means the most famous of the century!!!
Past greats from their respective fields include the likes of Charlie Chapman, John Geilgud and Laurence Olivier, etc. Those, I can totally accept.
And yes, Sir Trevor is an institution. But so were Robin Day, Alastair Burnet, Richard Dimbleby, even David Frost...................
Then again, just how credible IS a list that includes Ant n Dec and Robbie Williams amongst its "greatest".

Well done Sir Trevor.
I often question why Trevor was knighted. What has he actually
done
to deserve it? Turn up a few nights a week to read the news? John Suchet spent over 30 years presenting ITN news bulletins and the ITV News Channel (which needs more skill than a mainstream bulletin) yet didn't get anywhere near the recognition Trevor has.
As another example, Anna Ford has read mainstream bulletins on the BBC for years and years, yet she's never been made a Dame.
