I just don't get the news channel... who are these dreadful people? Ben Scotchbrooke doing Alastair's show... patronising with a face for radio. Mark Owen and Faye Barker? It was like watching two planks of wood. And Faye's voice? Cheese grater. Where's the likes of Carrie Frais, Owen Thomas and Lucy Alexander? Or is this the way ITV is trying to reposition itself as sky gets ready to relaunch. Sky must be laughing.

Ouch! Faye Barker is from Yorkshire Television, and fills in from time to time, but has been on quite frequently this summer. Mark Owen I believe is from ITV Wales, I wouldn't say they are wooden, they are pretty experienced, maybe they are just better suited to regional news. I have watched Faye on the News Channel and she has been excellent especially with the Katrina disaster. Sasha Herriman is my favourite ITV babe at the moment, I love the scalf she wears. She is also very talented.

Faye has left YTV and is now a freelancer.

Oh? It was coming really, she hadn't been spending much time at YTV recently. Good for Faye, I look forward to seeing her on the News Channel more often.

Felicity Barr standing in for John Nicholson standing in for Angela Rippon today. News Summaries with Clare Weller from Anglia News.

Has Felicity ever presented it before?

Well considering the BBC will have sanctioned the move as a one off as part of ITN's 50th celebrations, it'll hardly come as a surprise.

Felicity is good with the 'Live with' format, she has a very likeable personality, and I think she's a rising star.

As for Fay Barker, well, she was hardly all that at YTV was she ? She only presented the late bulletin really, don't recall her being the stand-in for Christine and she seemed to have a secondary career in panto every year. Time will tell, she might get better.

With her working in panto all winter and working on Package Holiday Undercover all summer, plus standing in on Real Radio Yorkshire and the ITV News Channel the rest of the time she was hardly ever on Calendar so i'm not surprised that she has officially left.

On the top one, the right most two squares are the opening titles, and the left hand square is what appears to be the opening titles merged with the start of the main sting (used only on the Lunchtime & News at 10.30) dyed orange...

Indeed. I should have said that both backdrops are animated. Rather distractingly so, IMO.

Does anybody have the whole "block world" in that krange colour it looks quite nice.

PS . Londoner where they animated slowly like when the ITV Evening news goes to a break and the animation is on the wall ???

Not a surprise for them but certainly one for us!
