They could still see them though, as they are faintly projected arn't they?
Yes, faintly. How else would presenters know what they are pointing at? I think it says something about that on the ITV News website when it discusses the newswall.
True, but I remember once Katie Derham was supposed to be doing a live interview with a reporter, their picture did not appear on the newswall yet she still talked to nothing it seemed.

Good to have her back, however, the ending style was a lot different, Mark & Mary went round to the sides of the desk and briefy Mary looked back at the newswall, as if looking at the ending titles, even though all that was there was green.

That could be down to Katie following the rule book. She seems to me like the kind of presenter who would be told what to do and follow it exactly, and not think of something else -in this instance just look at the newswall anyway as if her life depended on it.

Alternatively the back projection may have been working so Katie would have been initially unaware that there was a problem. Then again, if a picture wasn't projected, Katie may have allowed for the possibility that the problem was with the back projection and not the CSO.
The alternative would be to immediately apologise for a missing video feed that may well have been there from the viewer's point of view.
Either way, once you had chosen a path you'd have to stick with it.
I'm not a games theorist but carrying on as normal was probably the better option because if you're lucky the viewer would be none the wiser.

Wow James Bond himself reporting on the ITV Evening News!

I noticed that too, about Tom Bradby! Tonight's EN has been an anti-climax. Except Roger Moore's report, I think the programme has been very sloppy (focusing mainly on Mark Austin). Mary looked uncomfortable at the beginning, fidgeting with papers, but became more confident quickly. I'm not used to Mary's voice, she sounds so shaky. Was she always like that? Nice comment from Mark at the end too!

Forgive me if this has been covered, but ITV News seems to have dropped their standard graphics windows for the news - i.e. with the three squares and caption on the Evening News, and the two-square and captions on the other bulletins.
Instead they seem to go for stange camera angle which get the four square in - but just doesn't look as good!

I agree it doesn't look as good, but maybe they're trying to fit in with the look of the channel, which keeps on changing.
