No, and I didn't say that they did. However, two great scoops in a year, does not a good quality news channel maketh.............consistency is what it's all about.
ITV News IS indeed consistent - consistently mediocre.
Well it's clear that you don't like it, so instead of shouting it here why not do something useful and suggest it to ITV/ITN
or even better
Don't even bother with this thread - all the posts I have seen you post is criticising this and criticising that, why bother posting here!

BBC World can say what he likes on this forum as long as its relevant to what is being discussed. You dont own this thread and cannot dictate what is discussed here. If BBC World thinks ITV News is tacky (which I fully agree with) he has every right to voice his opinion, just as you and others have every right to say you love it.
On the subject of the interactivity of the Lunchtime News, if Im in at the time, as soon as the introduction to 'the pulse' begins I switch over to BBC1. I have no interest whatsoever in hearing what Kelly from Macclesfield thinks about the days topic. As has been said, most of the time the views aired are the totally obvious and add nothing worthy to the discussion with the 'experts'. At least on the One O'Clock News you get just that, news, not a radio-esque discussion programme with contact details every few minutes.
You are missing the whole point of the forum then! If I want to criticise (which incidentally, if I do, I will always do so politely), then I am entitled so to do.
Sorry, but my
personal opinion
is that ITV News is a shadow of the former ITN branded product. Having been a consistent (persistent)viewer of ITN since the 1970's, I have to say that I can no longer put up with ITV News.
It, in my opinion, lacks the quality of other broadcast news channels. I shall continue to post my opinions, and shall never suggest to anyone that they are not entitled to.
Hi Luke. I am personally referring to both network and news channel. However, the network / terrestrial bulletins are, frankly, where my main gripe lies.
The correspondent above actually summed it up quite well - the Lunchtime News has become similar to a radio talk show, with phone-ins and quazi - shopping channel style, banal nonsense.
As the correspondent said in the post above, just give us the news! Don't triviliase it by making it a cross between the News and Trisha or This Morning!
i think they deliberately 'lightened' the focus of their Lunchtime News in order to harmonise it with their relaunched daytime output - aiming it at the housewife/stay-at-home mother.
However, the evening and night bullteins are the best they've ever been since the change from ITN to 'ITV News' IMO. There isn't much between them and the BBC equivalents on most nights.

I would agree with that; IMO, ITV News is the only credit the broadcaster has at the moment, and (so I've heard) is matching the ratings of the BBC's offering. I would add that, irrelevant of the 'look of the studio', the quality of the journalism (as we've seen with the scoops and awards), and, in most cases the presenting, is top notch.
I have just watched the ITV News at 10:30 and have been surprised at the high quality of the programme.
There was indepth reports on the disaster in New Orleans, where Robert Moore reported live and also an item reminiscent of a tsunami story! Lawrence Mcginty also presented a 3d image of New Orleans from The Briefing studio detailing the geographical background to New Orleans and why this disaster is going to take many weeks to subside.
There was then the story concerning the stampede and then an interview with a possible Tory leader. There was then a small news-round up (mostly deaths and murders!)
This was then followed by the first of a two-part series by Julian Manyon going back to Beslan to follow up his award-winning coverage from last-year. I expected ITV News to mention this many times and even show the piece but it was only mentioned once by James Mates in the studio.
Part two of the report is to be aired tomorrow.
Overall, even though the news content was quite harrowing and depressing, the programme worked very well and the theatre of news -wall was used enough.
I don't usually like James Mates presenting(as he is very quiet) but he seems to be much better lately and overall the 18:30 and 10:30 bulletins have improved from a low from about two-years ago.
The ITV News is'nt as bad as some people may say but there is always room for improvement.
The first thing I would do is to shorten the Lunchtime News by 15 minutes and remove The Pulse feature - or at least have the regional news at 13:00 with The Pulse following at 13:20.
God, 'The Pulse' did drag on a bit today, didn't it? Good points raised, however.

never seen the top half on the astons used before other than on the pulse. it looked odd without the bottom part of the strap on the beslan school siege report. is this something new?
