Did sound a bit grumpy! I think Owen and Phil are being used so much because I think they're both freelance and they've obniously got staffing problems. Owen's been covering Joyce Ohaja's shifts for weeks now as well as standing in for Steve Scott. I haven't seen Chris Rogers for ages... he must be on holiday too. But I'd much rather seen Owen than the dreadful plank of wood Lloyd Bracey. or Adrian Brittan who just isn't a good presenter at all.

This is a first isn't it, Lucy Owen of ITV Wales News doing the national summary on ITV1.

I just saw her *faint*

I hope she is on with the main evening bulletin later on!

I like Lloyd Bracey and Adrian Britton. They are very good and not used as much as the Phil & Owen pairing. Adrian may not be hilarious at all times but he is a likeable newscaster and Lloyd is not on enough[mainly because Phil, Owen and now Lucy Owen are always on]. It is my - unpopular - opinion.

Well, that's the first time since at least 1999, that I can think of, for 3 different presenters in two days [for ITV1 News].

Does ITV News lend out its reporters to ITV regions or something? I wouldn't ask but ITV reporter Helen Callaghan was reporting on Granada News earlier.

It's more common when its the other way.

Anyone read the supplement with the Sunday Mirror today (Bought one at work) about the 'Sexiest newsreaders' or something and Katie Derham and Lucy Alexander were 2 of them interviewed and it made interesting reading.

Helen Callaghan's an odd one because she was on HTV for years, then she popped up on the BBC briefly. Then she was on HTV again and now ITV [and you say Granada].

She's some sort of nomad reporter it seems.

Everytime she does report on the main ITV News it is usually from Wales, but she is in Liverpool today and the same material was used on Granada News and the main ITV News.

It was strange to place Lucy Owen on the ITV London bulletin and have Phil Gayle on the ITV News Channel. Surely the obvious thing to do was to leave Lucy Owen on the ITVNC and put Phil Gayle on London Tonight?

As a regional ITV viewer I would be disappointed to see too many different faces presenting the news in my region - especially coming from a different ITV region to present in another.

If I lived in London and watched London Tonight I wouldnt have developed an affinity or connection with the programme and presenters due to the large number of presenters and the inconsistencies of too many unknown faces passing through the news room.

Could anyone tell me their views on whether London Tonight has got better or worse since the changes and using News Channel presenters?

To answer your question, ohwatanight, my view is that ITV's London News is now done by ITN and I reckon if ITN are short of presenters, they can use News Channel presenters - but they'll have to be English for me because Lynda Bryans does not seem right hosting London Tonight with a Scottish or Irish accent.
