As speculated here, the RT confirms that Mary Nightingale and Trevor McDonald both return next week for the start of the new season.

Bill Neely's on duty this coming weekend.

On the 10.30, Trevor's doing Mon/Tue/Wed, Thursday is Mark Austin and Friday is James Mates.

Friday's Evening News next week is with Mark and Felicity.

Is Nina confirmed as LN presenter alongside Nick?

Does anyone else think the 10.55 news update on ITV is a waste of time? I sat down to watch it this morning, and Nick did two stories and a promo about "The Pulse". It hardly lives up to the name "Summary", does it?

Yes, the 10.55 summary has gone downhill since the new Lunchtime News started - it's now a glorified trail for the 12.30 programme.

Similar to the 12.00, thats just a promo and a headline or two...

Strange though, there are two 'Summaries' in the morning with none in the afternoon or evening, well since the rebrand - am I right in thinking they scrapped the 15.10 Summary then?

Its debatable what is more high profile, random News Channel shifts or the ITV Morning News. She'll get more viewers on ITV1

Suppose so - even at that time of the morning must be some nutters around... me for example.

This morning it was Rachel presenting and we had a full headline sequence... still seems to be a pattern of she does 7 days on and then quite a few days off. Don't really rate the new presenter (whose name I won't attempt to spell) but she may improve with time.

Like I'm the expert... Smile

So does this mean Nina will be pushed to weekend bulletins or will she be on LN till Katie is back ?

Nina will be doing the Lunchtime News until Katie returns, then who knows.

I would disagree with that; I know the 10.55 is allocated 90 seconds, where the 12 is given double that, and goes into more of the days stories.

A summary is a quick rundown of the top stories, so I don't see what ITN are doing wrong there, as that is what they do...

Yes, but a good percentage of that 90 seconds is given over to reading out text message instructions, phone numbers and email addresses.

I suppose so with the 10.55, but the 12 has a good percentage of news. I would agree that ITV News has got a little OTT with the whole interactivity concept, however.
