It may be better than before but I personally think its a disgrace that a channel with the balls to tell us that it :
A) Breaks news for Britian; couldn't run LIVE by-election coverage and resuslt!
And B) Whose ambition is to overtake BBC News 24 (DIDN'T MANION SAY SOMETHING LIKE THIS AT LAUNCH OF NEW ON-AIR LOOK) couldn't provide live coverage and analysis of a debate which will play a part in electing the most powerful man in the world.
The ITV News channel is still shocking, they fill air time with chats with weather presenters and at certian times of the day their top of the hour is a round up of showbiz stories and cut downs of 'London Tonight' entertainment packages. This is no dis-credit to I'm sure a hard working team on the channel but this will NEVER overtake Sky or the BBC who run a far superior service 24 hours a day.
To be honest, I like the ITV News Channel being like that. If every news channel ran with exactly the same things simultaneously, then life would become very boring. It's sometimes nice that there's a channel you can flick to which is carrying something different than the other two.
I hear what you're saying and I thought about that myself before posting but the ITV News channel can't have that excuse made for them every time they mis something like this because of staffing and funding. YES - its nice that they run news when the others are on events like this, but they force a big flying slogan in our face every fifteen minutes that says 'Breaking News For Britian' so when a key by-election takes place that could offer important projections to the next general election the channel whose core objective is to 'Break News For Britian' should surley be there to cover it.
They run no results and no coverage, instead running a pre-recorded news belt. And this is my point - it'll never be a real match to the market leaders.

For anyone who wants to know the ITV News Channel will be celebrating their 2nd Birthday at 5.30am tomorrow.
It doesn't feel like the same NC as we had two years ago, the NC we have now is far better.
