Nice screw up on the Lunchtime Grab of words. Lost a report on the Gaza pull-out so Nick started blabbing about how uncommon this is. Yeah, Just remember this is ITV!
I saw lunchtime news, first time in a hwile, and Nina is holding the show together... Nick is stumberling, looking at other VT screens, and just messing up....
The Lunchtime News really is embarrassing to watch isn't it and has gone down the pan since it was extended to the full hour. I only usually watch it when I've missed News at Noon, but every time I do see it something screws up. Why is Nick Owen presenting a main bulletin? The man is awful! When he isn't speaking, he sits there looking gormless into the camera and when he is speaking he often looks at the wrong camera or at other areas of the studio. When Derham is on she sits there nodding away or frowning depending on the mood of the story (incredibly patronising), something which Andrea Catherwood seems to have adopted too. Another event occurring regularly is the presenters talking over each other when reading off the autocue. Now, if these mistakes happened once or twice, like on other networks, you could forgive it and ignore it, but when happening with such frequency in nearly every programme it just looks incompetent!

Oh go and have a lie down will you.... Nick's not perfect, nobody is. The lunchtime news is an informal show, so it's not unacceptable (I know it's cringeworthy) and IMO Nick is the only man left to do the job and he is good at it. He has a good sense of humour, and brings the news across relaxed and lighthearted whatever the story.

I must admit if Nick or someone else presented it on his own then it would be ok.
I hate when the presenters talk over one another.
Get Steve Scott and Felicity Barr to present it. They work great together

Really? I think they're pretty wooden, but Felicity on her own or with somebody else other than Steve (coming up this Friday, with Nick!!!) is pretty good.
When will ITV news drop their fixation on the Metropolitan Police, ok they scewed up, lets get over it and let the Met look for the bombers instead of been caught of guard having to answer questions on a Daily Basis from ITV. Out of interest has some Brazillian company bough shares in ITV If ITV continues on there stories it can only harm the met in the long run and that of the safety of the people who live in London.

I think it's called journalism!
When ITV are lazy and do Beckham-type stories they get slagged off, whereas now they are following through their exclusive story and they are still getting slagged off!!!
I feel the story warranted a reporter to travel to Brazil to interview the parents and also for Dan Rivers to see the story through - investigating the 'missing' video-tapes. Could this story turn into another Hutton investigation?
PS Nick Owen much more professional on the 18:30 ITV News bulletin!
