Just seen the Big Al On the 1030. What a pro!

He delivers the news so well hes better doing the newsreading on the 1030 than London Tonight.

His delivery is perfect and he speaks very clearly and you by the time he has said goodbye you come away actually having taken news in.

OK Nina is a great newsreader but when shes walking about on set she tends to distract me away from the news and towards her

Couldn't agree more - Alastair deserves the News at 10:30. His delivery last night was compelling. The way he was pointing his arms with every syllabil and general hunger for the news he is presenting.

Mark Austin suits the 18:30 perfectly and can be the stand-in for Alastair on the late bulletin when he is on his hols.

Why can't anyone at ITN see this?

Alastair returned to the 10.30 a bit too late in the selection process IMO, and therefore was no real candidate, but I don't think that this means we won't see him at all; I think Al will be the stand-in for Mark, instead of the other way around.

However, on the other hand, taking into account Alastair's LT and NC commitments, perhaps he didn't want to take more onto his hands and change his routine.

There has been an advert break in the ITV News at 18:30 each night this week - any reason why?

I forgotten how good Alistair is at solo anchoring. Certainly the best out the lot of them who work on the network news.

It makes you wonder if LT should be solo anchored by Alistair, as the female co-host doesn't really bring anything to the programme.

I think it's usually to make up on lost advert time from elsewhere or because there is not much news to report that evening.

Well none of the LT female anchors are really hard news women... at least two have been or are entertainment correspondents!
