Me_for_nina isn't referring to the problems with the opening sequence, but to the 'coming up' section before the break; Sasha announced what was coming up, the wide shot was then shown and the ads didn't run. A man then started rigging her up, running in from the left-hand side of the screen. After a gallery shot, the ads then played after what seemed like a minute or so.
Here is how i would set out ITV News on ITV1 / ITV 2 and ITV News Channel.
ITV 2 - Introudce a half hour entertainment news programme, possible twice a week about showbiz, film reviews ect.
ITV 1- Scrap Morning News as there is no need for it as we have GMTV Newshour. Instead 5minute update at 5.30AM.
- ITV Lunchtime News - 12.30PM - 1.30PM
Would be nice to see it in the format of a sofa - studio set. Other than that, its
ok.
- ITV Evening News - 6.30PM - 7.00PM
There needs to be no break. The camera angle needs to be normal when they are reading the story, instead of to one side like they have done recently.
- ITV Nightly News - 10.30PM - 11.15PM
It needs a proper name, so why not that? Extend it to 11.15 to incoperate more stories. Local news can be at 11.00 - 11.10.
When Trevor steps down, i think someone like Alistiar Stewar would be good, or Jon Nicholson, Mark Austin can stay with Evening.

Its a shame it doesnt do regional inserts, it could have local news at 10.30AM, 2.30PM, 4.30PM , 9.30PM for 20Minutes.
More programmes like the ITV News Network would do. Give Owen Thomas and Jon Nickelson there own shows - very good presenters.
No, i mean do 5 minute updates like : 12.30AM, 1.30AM, 2.30Am ect
Yeh more updates like that overnight would be desirable for people who do night shifts, but the majority or people are asleep at that time. However, it would be better than anything offered on the ITVNC overnight!
