And so to the Grand Hotel Brighton, or the mean streets outside to be precise, for an unexpected denouement to the journalists' trivia quiz at the Labour Party Conference. The broadcast journalists beat the print journalists in the hotly-contested tournament, but the triumph soon turned into a Pyrrhic victory for the broadcast journos' team leader, Angus Walker of ITV News. The political reporter walked off with his prize, a bottle of champagne, but made the mistake of leaving the protective bubble of the conference security cordon and walking onto the street outside. There he was stopped by a couple of police constables who promptly confiscated the bubbly, claiming that in the wrong hands it could become a dangerous weapon. Try as he might, Walker was unable to get the booze back, and at one stage the police talked of slapping an anti-social behaviour order on him. At least the ITV reporter has come out of the experience with a new nickname. Arise, Angus "Asbo" Walker.

It may be better than before but I personally think its a disgrace that a channel with the balls to tell us that it :
A) Breaks news for Britian; couldn't run LIVE by-election coverage and resuslt!
And B) Whose ambition is to overtake BBC News 24 (DIDN'T MANION SAY SOMETHING LIKE THIS AT LAUNCH OF NEW ON-AIR LOOK) couldn't provide live coverage and analysis of a debate which will play a part in electing the most powerful man in the world.
The ITV News channel is still shocking, they fill air time with chats with weather presenters and at certian times of the day their top of the hour is a round up of showbiz stories and cut downs of 'London Tonight' entertainment packages. This is no dis-credit to I'm sure a hard working team on the channel but this will NEVER overtake Sky or the BBC who run a far superior service 24 hours a day.

For anyone who wants to know the ITV News Channel will be celebrating their 2nd Birthday at 5.30am tomorrow.
It doesn't feel like the same NC as we had two years ago, the NC we have now is far better.

To be honest, I like the ITV News Channel being like that. If every news channel ran with exactly the same things simultaneously, then life would become very boring. It's sometimes nice that there's a channel you can flick to which is carrying something different than the other two.
