Spotted Clare Weller on the news channel today...

Clare Weller, for a non-regular on the News Channel, was incredibly relaxed and came across as an excellent presenter. ITV News are now pretending to have live weather feeds, after Steve Scott said ''Now let's have a look at the weather with Sian Lloyd, Hello Sian.'' Sian starts her weathercast with ''Hello.'' Quite a clever trick really, which would fool people who do not know it is a prerecord. Does anybody else feel that Felicity Barr is better suited to do drivetime with another cohost rather than Steve? I find him utterly flat in his delivery and he almost 'barrs' felicity from making any jokes or adlib, which she usually does with another co anchor.

This article about how ITV obtained the "scoop of the year" is fairly interesting.

Chris Rogers reported the headline this evening; can't recall him reporting before. ITV News are running a series of 'child prison' reports this week, and tomorrow Chris joins Alastair and Nina on The Pulse at 12.30.

It is the middle of August! Main presenters often take an extended holiday at this time

Yes but whatever time of the year it is, Trevor always takes a break. I haven't seen Mark go away for a while...

Bloody Hell, Alastair is dedicated, the Lunchtime News and News At 10:30!

I don't see why they can't give the 10:30 to him, he's a great Newsreader. Regarding Peter Jennings, they mentioned it on the LN too and Alastair said how much he would be missed.

...and he did London Tonight too! I wonder if he will still be wearing his pinstriped jacket and blue tie at 10.30...!

That's what I find distinctive, and so good about him. The fact he gets involved with the news, gives his own opinions; he would be a great permanent anchor on the 'laid-back' LN, and would be excellent as the "flagship" 10.30 host. Mark is good, but he doesn't do it for me as in he is "no different to the next guy" so to speak. He simply reads the news plainly, and I feel to give him both slots is a real waste of talent on Alastair's part.
