Speaking of prerecordings, why do ITV prerecord their weathercasts? I know Calendar in my region do, is this the case in the other regions?

Probably to avoid embarassment if the graphics screwed up - particularly because the YTV Weather team also provide forecasts for Granada, Tyne Tees and Border, may be that it's safer to record all 4 than go on air with a Yorkshire forecast and realise that you've got a map of Geordieland behind you...

If they're not confident with they're graphics though, then why not get a new package? It wouldn't make sense if that was the reason for prerecording.

Centra West do Central east and Central south, as well as ITV West and sometimes itv wales.

Because there's no reason to do them live just for the sake of it.

The ITV National Weather probably has more than one take to make it look polished, but the Yorkshire weather is done 'as live' with mistakes left in.

Central West, East , South and HTV West do because they have the same presenter doing all of the forcasts so have to record at least 4 sometimes 5 if Wales also use the same presenter which they often do at the moment (more often than not Charlie Neil)

At weekends Wales always have the same presenter as Central/HTV West but Central have 1 forcast to cover all sub regions, so they only have to record 3 in total.

Anyone know where the missing squares are? No doubt they'll make up for them elsewhere!

The News Channel graphics always look like that - it's because it's meant to have a garish yellow and blue story caption over it. No idea why though don't have them on though...

I don't see why they don't have the squares anyway, even if the graphics do cover it. Seems pretty pointless.

This article about how ITV obtained the "scoop of the year" is fairly interesting.
