Tyne Tees have a new series starting next Tuesday at 7.30pm called 'That's News To Me' , the first episode is behind the scenes at a local radio station, but the second episode on the 16th August is behind the scenes at ITN,

"This edition captures the tension and the excitement behind the scenes at the ITN studios and at Trafalgar Square as the decision about the hosts of the 2012 Olympics is made."

...and I get "How London was Built". Great. Can you capture this if you can please?

So I guess you'll see Mark Austin behind the scenes if it is the Trafalgar Square OB after the olympic bid announcement.
This has been puzzling me for a couple of weeks... on the 20th July 2005, for only one hour, Chris Ship presented with Lucy Alexander. Why did he only present for an hour, or was he maybe at ITN doing a piece at the time and they needed somebody to fill in? Does he present frequently? Also, I watched an overnight ITV News broadcast and all they played for four hours were repeats ( 8 ) of the 10.30 with Bill Neely. ITV News is not quite a rolling news channel is it?

That mighthave been the day Chris did the Morning News, otherwise he may have bene required to do a report elsewhere.

This is a regular occurance on many news channels, except ITV have been slated here for not providing better nightly programming and for not showing 'PRERECORDED' when re-running the 10.30 overnight.

I know N24 often repeat their bulletins - I have seen so in the past few nights in fact. They never refer to the time, they just say "at this point in the hour", the sports and weather bulletins are exactly the same, and there is no reference to peoples names etc, on a link - come to think of it, they don't put PRE-RECORDED either.

The fact that they don't refer to the exact time is because the overnight bulletins are simulcast on BBC World. I know that usually they don't repeat the overnight bulletins except when there are technical difficulties. Because they are broadcasting to a global audience, it is important that the bulletins are live so that they can respond to breaking news if and when it happens.

Utter rubbish! Unless in exceptional circumstances (such as studio maintainance) News 24 NEVER repeat bulletins throughout the night. As has been said, every bulletin is live because it goes out on BBC World. Maybe the running orders are exactly the same in each hour, but maybe thats been because there hasnt been any reason to update reports. The only recorded news bulletin is ABC World News Tonight shown at 01.30, which is always flagged as being recorded.

Sky News are the same, and have live bulletins throughout the night, with the exception being the CBS Evening News at 00.30. ITV News is the only channel that records a half hour bulletin at 23.30, repeats this between 00.00 and 01.00, then shows repeats of the 22.30 ITV1 bulletin until 05.30 in the morning. The ITV morning news is shown live between 05.30 and 06.00 but is then repeated between 06.00 and 07.00. Therefore, ITV News show over 6hrs of recorded programming a day! The criticism they recieve is totally justified and is just one of the reasons the channel lacks any credibilty behind Sky and News 24!

Fair enough, I just assumed it was as the wording is often identical and the sports etc. seemed to be recorded.

well the weather is usually recorded everyhour, but played out twice.
a bit off topic, does sky news pre-record the sport?

Sky News' sports bulletins are recorded at 23:20 and repeated through the night.

Sky Sports News also repeats the 23:00 bulletin through the night until 6am (7am on weekends), but then again not a lot of sport happens at night.

BBC World have in the past shown recorded news bulletins.
BBC News 24 usually has one prsenter from about 1 in the morning till 5- if they don't show a repeat how is that presenter to take a break that they are legally entitled to unless they use a lot of fillers!
And who in their right mind is bothered whether the news channel they are watching is live!
Some mornings I don't get home till 2 I am not bothered whether I watch a recorded bulletin or some boring old person that would rather be on air for hours on end
