Yes she said she'd done one or two Hoilday films for the BBC, however still had four to do. She did go into great detail but I've forgotten. I know she said she did one with a young presenter, who they paired up as "the odd couple" and did something to do with shark diving I think.. so yes she's done some already recently.
Who is the current Editor of ITV News ? I seem to keep missing the name on the credits.
Not to sound too hypocritical, but does anyone else think the Evening News - as well as ITV's other bulletins - is getting better. I watched both the Six, then the Evening News, and ITV seemed to have the edge.
I know I have often been critical of ITV News - but they seem to be gradually getting better. The use of the studio and regional facilities seems to make it stand out from other broadcasters.

Deborah Turness is the editor of the ITV network news service - her name now appears on the credits. She was previously David Mannion's deputy.
Since the merger, David Mannion has been editor-in-chief of the ITV News Group - he works jointly for ITN and ITV overseeing news on ITV1, the News Channel and regional news.

There has been a marked improvement in the past 18 months (since David Mannion replaced Nigel Dacre), but I agree that since the February relaunch ITV News seems to have found a new confidence. I guess they're just getting better at managing meagre resources and squeezing more out them.

I agree -- ITV News are excelling themselves of late. The bulletins are getting better and better, and so is the News Channel.
I've just got a quick question about the News Channel -- how come they are still using the London Tonight studio before the network bulletins? I noticed Owen Thomas in there a couple of minutes ago. I thought now that they have that CSO studio which is virtually identical to the main studio, they don't need to use the London Tonight one?
Also, a quick suggestion -- what would everyone think about the NC using the main closing titles at the end of each hour? I personally think it would look good. They could still do the coming up in the next hour bit, but rather than playing the precom sting, they could play the closing titles with the ITN caption instead. With having the two together, people wouldn't switch off, as they'd know the NC would be continuing after the break.

As far as I can tell, the London studio is now only used at 10 o'clock when the presenter of the 9.30 News Network programme is also presenting the 10pm bulletin.
When the usual presenters are on, it goes like this:
2100 Steve Scott (main studio)
2130 ITV News Network with Joyce Ohajah (London studio)
2200 Steve Scott (CSO)
2230 ITV News with Trevor McDonald - regional headline with Joyce in the London studio at 2230
Tonight, Joyce is away, and so is Felicity, so Steve is doing the sport in the 10.30, so it's like this:
2100 Owen Thomas (main studio)
2130 ITV News Network with Owen Thomas (London studio)
2200 Owen Thomas (London studio)
2230 ITV News with Trevor McDonald - regional headline with Owen in the London studio at 2230
I guess it's just to stop Owen having to dash from studio to studio at 9.30, 10 and 10.30

Well this is new. Trevor has just referred to Carolines report as tonights ' The Briefing'.
They did something similar to this last night with Nick Robinson in that same virtual studio yesterday about the Lib Dems, with graphics and charts and things. Maybe it's a new thing.
Before I start, apologies for this not being up-to-date. I was hoping someone would be able to explain a little about the 1999-2004 ITV News studio. What I'd like to know is what was real, and were there any fake bits added to it? Was that balcony at the top real?
Does Owen Thomas ever take a day off? Every time I switch on he's there, both afternoon, evening and weekends. He also reads the london tonight bulletin. Can anyone think of other on all the time presenters?

The balcony was fake. It was CSO, and that was what hid the studio lights. But sometimes it wasn't done very well, and there was a hint of a light from the bottom of the CSO.

Felicity Barr, she's always doing sport in 10.30pm, sometimes does evening news, always does weekend sport, always on news channel! does the woman ever stop?
