Personally, I think Nick Owen should replace Big T when he goes.

I think Alastair and Katie are a good pairing for the Lunchtime News. And Mark and Mary on the Evening as usual.

The problem is, ITV have a surplus of presenters. There is Nina, Andrea, Felicity, Shiulie, Steve, James and Bill, who are all just as deserving to be on mainstream ITV, and not just the NC.


Well, Shiulie, Bill and James aren't really part of the surplus as such; reporting is their priority. However, the weekend news is a bit messed around, what with either Andrea, Steve, Felicity (and I suppose occasionaly Bill and James) reading the news each Saturday and Sunday, and then somebody else the weekend after (with the exception of Shiulie for the past fortnight) - so much for Andrea being a 'permanent'; wonder who's anchoring tomorrow?!!


In answer to my own question; someone different again - never expected that Wink ! it's Leyla!

It is constantly changing, a while it go it was mainly Andrea, James or Bill, then it changed to Andrea, Felicity and Steve and now its mainly Andrea or Leyla (two weekends and one Evening Noos recently).

Of course, the summary at lunchtime has been presented by a number of NC presenters, including Lloyd Bracey (did he present the main bulletin as well?) and Chris Rogers.

It all depends who needs to cover during the week, for example Andrea has been on the Lunchtime News all week, James Mates did the 10.30 last night. Steve Scott has been doing the Evening News.

The Weekend News has always been fairly random with a pool of half a dozen secondary presenters hosting it

I agree i think steve scott should get a permanent gig when sir trev retires either on the lunchtime or the evening news.
I prefer to watch steve compared to mark, bill and james. I hardy ever watch the evening news now just catch the last half hour of the steve and felicity barr pairing on the newschannel when I get home from work

yes i agree totaly! i think for the time being Steve and felicty should do fridays evening news permently.

Dont forget that Leyla was a regular weekend presenter on ITV1 a couple of years ago before she went on maternity leave and Felicity took over...

I think it should be the following presenters when Sir Trevor leaves;

ITV Lunchtime News - Shulee Ghosh and Steve Scott

ITV Evening News - Nick Owen and Andrea Catherwood

ITV News at 10.30 - Mark Austin (Ferlicity Barr for the sport)

James Mates, Bill Neely, Lauren Taylor, Ferlicity, Nina, Leyla etc would do the weekend bulletins on a rota basis, and also cover for the weekday bulletin presenters when needed.

Nina should be a main Evening News presenter. For some reason I dont like Steve Scott, a boring newsreader I think, and looks fed up most of the time. I think James Mates is a good newsreader.

I like James Mates on the 10:30 on Fridays.

i could never say that i like the presenters on itv compared to the bbc. i think on the beeb they all suit the slot they are on.

there isnt loads on itv who i like, it would be Nick Owen (who i think is possibly the best other then trevor), Katie Deheram, Nina Hussein, Steve Scott is ok, James Mates a bit boring but ok, and Trevor. I realy dont know what they see in Mark Austin!
