It was Phil for the first hour. It was still very much a "Live with Angie Rippon" show, all the guests were still on, the property slot, the movie reviews and the sport / betting slot just minus Angie
They normally bring in somebody like John Nicholson to cover Angie, so maybe it was a last minute change. Owen was fab though.
Don't forget Angie fans, she's on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire with Dermot Murnaghan tonight.
I also noticed that Owen presented part of Live with Angela Rippon today. I wonder what has happened to Angela? Its such a shame as her programme will probably get a plug on WWTBAM tonight on ITV1 and might gain some more viewers tomorrow!
Maybe she has got such a big programme planned for tomorrow that she has had to prepare much more for it today?

Is the News Channel now using the ITV1-style spinning cubes animation on the newswall on a regular basis coming out of breaks (instead of the flying text)? Looks quite good.

Maybe it depends on which studio they are using and how much time they got?
Also to note that tonight at 23:00 The ITV Weekend News was on ITV1 for 15 minutes whereas on The ITV News Channel Phil Gayle carried on presenting normal ITV News Channel coverage.
How come they can do it for a graveyard slot like 23:00 on a sunday night but not for something important?
ITV News has a nice little brochure being distributed at the party conferences.
Inside it has pictures of all the national and regional political correspondents, and on the back there is a bit of blurb about the ITV News Channel and a plug for Live with Alastair Stewart and his conference-related interviews.
It also gives details of where the ITV News Channel is available. Apparently it is on channel 23 on the Houses of Parliament internal TV system
I'm pleased to see that they've beefed up the format of the ITV News Network.
Unfortunately tonight's edition was somewhat curtailed by the Ryder Cup press conference, but there was a live link-up with Scotland Today and a news wrap of regional stories.
One thing I would like to see them do is to try to avoid running regional packages during the News Network programme that have aired earlier in the evening during 'normal' NC programming - for example, tonight's Keir Simmons and Tamzin Sylvester packages in part two of the News Network had also aired in the previous hour.
There must be enough material from the regions for them to use different stories for the News Network programme.
