problems on tonights news with Andrea.
the newswall kept freezing for a second and is now jerking constantly and the smooth animation of the squares has stopped. what could be wrong?

on the opening titles the animation stoped briefly on the newswall which was really noticable and whwn they were playing a video behind andrea it stopped again

i wonder what the closing titles will be like

Can I restart an old story - why did ITV or ITN change ITN News into ITV News when the original News at Ten got axed? I have completely forgotten the reason why.

ITV wanted the change to ITV News, not ITN, apparently. It's simply because the network wanted a move to what appeared to be a more in-house news service, as opposed to a service provided by another company.

Could it also be the prelude to a complete takeover of ITN by ITV?

I hope not. The ITN brand was much better than ITV News has being. That is what I think so. Such as you don't really see many warzone reports anymore e.g. Paul Davies in Chechnya, Harry Smith in Sarajevo etc.

The only started using ITV News properly at the beginning of 2002, when they dropped the ITN astons and "From ITN the ITV......" Though the deathknell was in 1999 when they started to call the programmes the ITV News rather than the ITN News.

You can see where ITV were coming from, as this was a time when ITN was expanding into Channel 4, Channel 5 and even ITN's own channel, which was co-launched with NTL. Remember ITN is owned by several companies, ITV only has a 40% share.

You can't possibly attribute the claim that there aren't as many foreign reports now to the fact that the name changed from ITN to ITV! It's just a name!

Well if channel 4 can have there own name why can't ITV? You wouldn't expect to have "yorkshire heartbeat" or "central crossroads".

ITN made sence when ALL the ITV companys had a share but now its owned, in part, by external companys it really doesn't make sence. It has an ITN endcap what more do you expect?

Exactly, and to say ITN was top notch, they was hardly pulling in the viewers on the ITN News channel was they, and Five News went elsewhere. ITV may not be in the lead either, but their audience has deffinatley increased by far since the rename. Forgive me anyway but ITN sounds dated, and so is their endcap.
