Their use of the logos isn't brilliant really.
I do agree basically with your idea - having the "EXCLUSIVE" or whatever appear under the ITV News dog - even in white capitals would suffice (as the logo looks on the "ITV News SUMMARY" titles.)

Does anyone remember the numerous incarnations used for ITV News EXCLUSIVE during the Sven-gate drama (cant think of her name even now!). On the ITV NC it was the old-style (boxed) itv news logo, then it changed to an ITV news (small n) for the lunchtime news and then only by the ITV evening news had they got a logo anywhere near how it should have been!
So to try and get around this ridiculous situation of changing dogs and cluttering the screen up with more graphic I propose they utilise the ITV News dog in the TOP RIGHT of the screen - why duplicate information???
Here they are:-

This could easily be utilised to use any 'earlier', 'prerecorded', exclusive' wording and lends itself to the branding quite well. I had to use a graduated background to bring out the ITV News lettering and also to give the area some boundary.

From the version used in the Lunchtime news to the next version used in the Evening news:-

Also, just turned over to ITV NC and they are using the first bug as in picture one!

No they're not! It's moved closer to the edge of the screen.
The interview has made the front pages of most of tomorrow's papers. It's all a bit OTT really - though Bragg's comments were interesting it's hardly *that* sensational.
Good publicity for the News Channel though.

Yes, that took me by surprise too. The ITV News bulletin I tend to watch the most is the one at 22.30, and I'm always used to the presenter sitting at the desk after the break.
By the way, how many days does Trevor work per week now? He did Monday and Tuesday this week, but Katie Derham did it last night, and Mark Austin tonight. Also, is there any news on a retirement date for Trevor? I heard it was to be in 2005 -- does anyone have more specific information than that? It'll be a shame when Trevor eventually goes -- it will certainly be the end of an era for TV news.

As Sir Trevor refuses to stand up apart from the lead story, until now they have tended to limit the use of the newswall on the 10.30 programme, even when Sir Trev isn't presenting.
But today Mark Austin did the hurricane story at the newswall in the second half of the programme.

The newswall is underused in the 10.30pm programme - mainly due to Trevor's legs - but it's also overused in the Lunchtime News, with generally Nick standing in front of a graphic.
The Evening News have the right balance, using it for the main story and mid-programme report, plus for the links at the middle and end.

Well it looks like ITV NC have started to promote a programme now, at 9.15 there was an effective looking promo for Next week on Live with Alastair Stewart which looks like it's going to be good as he has some good guests on....
Here's a still I manage to capture....

It wasn't phil, it was Owen... and very good he was too. He's very relaxed but serious when it counts.
