That damn crazy frog has even made it into the ITV News headlines tonight.

What are ITV playing at?
Their standards are now shamelessly tabloid. How can they possibly legimatelty report on a commercial company's adverts? Those that shock/offend and/or are banned by regulators are sometimes briefly spoken about, but this fits none of these criteria.

Talk about falling into the hands of the ad men.

How sad, they have a virtual BBC Studio.

The report hasn't even been on yet, it's the 'and finally' item

It sounds as if ITV have received hundreds of complaints each day regarding this advert and so feel the need to explain their stance on it within a news item.

The news item addressed the problem of it being on so much where Jamster said that,"when people stop downloading it they will stop advertising it!"

Also there was the other side of the story where children have subscribed to the service and been charged £30 for the ringtones and explained that there was small print there to stop people getting trapped in the contract! (as if people really read all that!!!!)

ITV can't be seen to be taking sides with advertisers and so covered most of the obvious ground with the story.

I think the advert is worthy of a news item! Have SKY¦News or BBC News 24 covered it yet?

It's even worse that they felt the need to promote it at 6.30 and again at 6.45. In another thread, you commented that the story about cheque-clearing times was a 'non-news' (which you couldn't spell) story for when the BBC ran out of 'proper' stories. I actually found it quite interesting as I've always wondered why it takes so long for a cheque to clear, and wish it would be faster.

How can you defend the 'crazy frog' story? It's just nonsense, even for an 'and finally'.

Yes they promoted it at 6.30, it's called the headlines, the "and finally " story always features in the headlines.

ITV News cover popular stories and I feel the general public would like to know a bit more about this phenomenon (and advert)

It is annoying and most people would have surely seen it by now!
I feel it is a news-worthy story!

Has any other news operation covered it yet?

Even more fundamental mistake, mixing frivilous and light news with the top stories of the day. I'm glad you felt it warrented inclusion in the headlines at both 6.30 and 6.45.

They've always done that, even with the old News at Ten

If ITV had any sort of viewer feedback programme then it should have featured on that, at most.

There was also a clip of Sir Trev in the ITV newsroom near the end promoted what was coming up on the ITV News at 10:30. Has this happened before?
