Im really surprised that they have unveiled the desk today- I like it, except the way you can see the third guest's chair through the glass . The graphics on the news wall look much better.
I have to say I am quite impressed with the new Lunchtime News; the partnership between Katie and Nick works really well IMO.
Although there seems to be a balanced opinion over in the other thread, I have to say I like the look of the newswall as well - the news now looks as though it is being broadcast in the afternoon instead of having a deep blue, night-time kind of colour.
I also like the new ringed walkway, I think this could be used to its full potential in items such as 'The Briefing'; however, time will tell.
The ticker works well for viewers comments, and as others have said, I also feel this should replace the red ticker on the NC.
In terms of the election desk, that will take some getting used to, as i think its a bit too big, but it should be gone in a few weeks time. As for the commercial breaks? Well...there were two within the space of about 8 minutes of each other, so it doesn't seem like the news has been 'extended' by that long after all.
Generally though, I'm happy, and I'm glad ITN has decided to be more experimental for its lunchtime bulletin.
I thought that with today being a 'relaunch' day of sorts they might try to have a full complement of presenters on the News Channel with two presenters through the afternoon.
But at 1.30 it was Romilly Weeks solo, and now Steve Scott is on his own.
And the demise of the 3pm regional bulletin seems to have spelt the end of the 3.20ish edition of UK Today.
UK Today did happen at 11.25, though that edition seems to be a bit hit and miss.
I was wondering if it would happen!
SO we only get UK today at 11:25ish when they can fit it in Maybe they should create another ITV News Network half hour, say 16:30 - 17:00 - popping around as many regions as they can?
Im really surprised that they have unveiled the desk today- I like it, except the way you can see the third guest's chair through the glass . The graphics on the news wall look much better.
Why is that surprising? All the stations are launching their campaigns now, and with it being a Monday, and with only 3 weeks to go until the general election, doesn't it make sense?
I do think it is coincidential that the ITV Day launch happened to fall on the same day though.
I don't think i've seen Steve and Romilly together before and they seem ok together.
I've been flicking around all the news channels since Donna Allen has won her appeal case and the only ones giving it some serious time are ITV News Channel.
BBC News 24 continued with their election coverage whereas SKY¦News did talk about it and show a live from outside the court but after a few minutes of nothing much happening gave up.
ITV News Channel had a report ready for Donna winning the appeal and then aired that. Next they spoke to Nana Miscouri (cant think of her real name) outside the court of appeal for a few more minutes and now they are speaking to a guest in the studio about the repeat mis-carriage of justice.
The funniest thing is it looks like they have got the guest sat on a sprung deck-chair! lol
